Without going into a bunch of details,

the reason for the low bloggage has been:
Notice problem with eye.
Doc says "You need a specialist."
See him.  "You need the retina specialist."
See him.  "you need this surgery, we'll do it in three weeks."
Two days before: "The doctor had to go out of the country, call tomorrow and we'll reschedule."
Call tomorrow: "She's not at her desk, she'll call you back."
Followed by a effing WEEK of trying to find something out.
This morning: "We'll do it next week."
So, I have an eye problem(which is both annoying and somewhat terrifying).  Which should be either fixed, or mostly fixed(damn you, old age) by this.  When it gets done, and the following days of "You'll have to do this" are over.  Don't know when I'll be able to shoot anything with real recoil again, may be a couple of weeks, may be longer.

And in the meantime, it screws with my vision, which causes various problems and the occasional need to scream "God-DAMMIT!"

So the intermittent bloggage will continue.

And I think I need to get a bottle of good whiskey.

My 23 year old adopted daughter, had eye surgery about a year ago, for a detatched retina, followed by cataract surgery, which proved to be unsuccessful. She lost vision in that eye. The other eye had the same problem. The doctor said it was due to shaken baby syndrome, from her biological parents, when she was a baby.
A few months ago, she had a repair done on the remaining good eye, less invasive, to be cautious, and try to keep vision. Without correction, her vision in the good eye is 20/300.
About 2 weeks ago, she had the bad eye removed, due to it's causing difficulty with the remaining good eye, and sympathy problems. Needless to say, if I were to see her biological parents again, they would probably end up putting me in jail, perhaps for a very long time.
She goes to see the surgeon this Thursday, to make sure that her eye removal was successful, which it seems to have been. In a couple of months she should be able to be fitted with a prosthetic eye, which are now made from a polycarbonate/acrylic material. A hell of a lot to go through for a 23 year old kid.
So I can sympathize with what you face, and send good thoughts, and prayers for a successful outcome for you. The retina specialist we had was one of the best in our state, and we are grateful for all of the other doctors who were involved with fixing her problems. Best wishes to you and yours. And remember that the .22 LR is a very fun round to shoot. I bought a Ruger Mark IV 22/45 this past spring, and it has been a great gun.

Best of luck to you. Had some guys at the trap range who had either cataract surgery, Lasik or surgery to reattach a retina. All have come back and most are shooting better than ever. May the same fortune be with you.......

Prayers for your quick recovery.
I have to get cataracts fixed next year, not so easy with existing eye issues.

My condolences. Eye troubles are a real pain in the ass, so many things we do require our vision. I hope when they get their shit together, they fix you up well.

No worries on bloggage, we'll be here patiently waiting.

Best wishes! I'd be pretty upset with the lengthy issues of getting this addressed - eye issues usually are very time sensitive and after my wife's issues we take it seriously. Unresponsive offices and doctors will be dropped for second opinions if we have to. My wife had a detached retina - long story shorty she noticed that the top part of her vision in one eye was like a curtain had been drawn down halfway - she thought it was the beginning of a migraine which for her had always caused vision issues. By Monday morning, obviously not a migraine and was panicked, went to our regular eye doctor and was a detached retina. Emergency procedure to get a schleral buckle placed and spent the next two weeks face down - then ended up not being able to see out of that eye - should have immediately gone to see a doctor. Great news was about 18 months later a specialist to do procedures to correct the issue that caused it in the other eye - lattice degeneration - stated he thought there was a possibility could gets some vision back in her other eye - laser procedure including a cataract surgery and she has most her vision back in that eye - but with a fishbowl effect and two eyes that compete for vision as they don't work as well together as they used to.

Poor bastid. My sympathy. My vision went down to 20/400 before it really made me notice. I had surgery, and, WOW! Look at all the pretty girls! They're ALL pretty! I mean, I'd never actually seen my girlfriend. Nice lagniappe, turns out she was beautiful.

Happily it's not as bad as a detached retina, but it's still MY FREAKING EYE!

I understand crap happens, and it was an actual family emergency for the doctor, but apparently the place has no actual plan in place for "If Dr. Whosis has an emergency/gets sick/dies, who takes care of his patients?" Which pisses me off.
