To start with, the person in charge of the most solemn and sacred of traditions, revealed his outright disdain for the men and women of the Department in the most disgusting display of ignorance we have ever had the misfortune to witness:

"Ignoring a sacred ritual, Carter impatiently declared: “We don’t have 20 minutes for this s---.” He demanded the Chicago Fire Department ambulance bearing French’s body be taken directly into the medical examiner’s office, skipping the Emerald Society’s traditional playing of bagpipes."
"We’re not waiting on the bagpipes. Go ahead and get the vehicle inside,” Carter is heard saying on a recording. “Take it all the way inside. Do not stop.”
I would ask "Just how bloody stupid do you have to be?", but yes, they managed to take it further into the toilet.
And, just to add to the stupid and asshole, we have Sen. Dick Durbin:
"In a Senate floor speech Tuesday, Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., said the murder of Chicago Police Officer Ella French — with a weapon bought in Indiana — adds urgency for Congress to increase the punishment of so-called straw purchasers and make it more than a “paperwork” crime."
It's a 'paperwork crime' because assholes like you have let it be. People all over the country have yelled at clowns like you to actually have ATF and the EffingBI ENFORCE THIS LAW, and you haven't. That includes then-Vice President Gropey being asked about this in Congress, and him dismissing that law as "We don't have time to waste on that!" So fuck you, you grandstanding asshole.
Oh, I wonder if someone will ask him if that includes telling the EffingBI to investigate and bring a case against Hunter Biden, who's actually confessed to illegally buying a gun and to lying on the 4473?

In order to reach the highest offices of the military or police departments, one has to be well-connected and well-known. It's true that in order to get promotion whilst still in the lower ranks (either as a enlisted rank, lower ranking military officer--2Lt to Major, lower ranks of the PD) one has to prove it through competence. However, once you're looking at the higher levels of either the military or PD where one's competence has been proven coming up through the lower ranks--essentially, you're looking for the first amongst equals. Therefore, it all boils down to whom do the "masters" like better. Is it really a surprise that the majority of high-ranking officers in either the military or PD are political beings and willing to kowtow to their political masters in order to get that vaunted promotion?
