Proper response to this crap starts with arrest warrants,

and subpoenas, and lawyers being disbarred.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee announced on Thursday night that hundreds of former IRS official Lois Lerner’s previously “lost” backup tapes have been recovered, which could result in the recovery of a new trove of her emails.

IRS Deputy Inspector General Timothy P. Camus told Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) on Thursday that it took investigators just two weeks to recover 424 backup tapes that were previously said to be unretrievable.
...
In one of the new emails, Lerner apparently wrote, “No one will ever believe that both your hard drive and mine crashed within a week of each other.”
And this alone should get that clown running the agency arrested for lying under oath:
Chaffetz was stunned when he asked Camus if anyone from the IRS had ever asked for the backup tapes and he replied, “No.”

“We send a subpoena, we send letters, we have hearings, we hear all kinds of excuses from the IRS,” Chaffetz said. “Every excuse you can have under the sun — you find them in two weeks, and then when you go talk to the IT people who are there in charge of them, they told you that they were never even asked for them. Is that correct?”

“That is correct,” Camus replied.

You're assuming the Republicans have either courage or conscience. As far as I can tell, they don't. They were elected to stop Obama and bring this lawless administration under control, impeach the criminals and put them on trial--but they don't want to rock the boat.

Don't you know that the GOP's "rice bowl" requires them to be an opposition minority party forever? If they ever succeeded, they'd put themselves out of a job, or else have to take some responsibility instead of just sitting on the sidelines grumbling. And who wants that? No, it's easier and safer to devise ever more elaborate rationalizations for capitulating. And when a disgusted electorate throws all the bums out in the next election, they'll say "see? the hard-liners went too far, we alienated the moderates. We need to move to the left and get those soccer mom voters!"
