Borepatch has a post on the idiocy that is firearms law

in the People's Republic of MA.
In Massachusetts, anyone who does not have a valid Firearm ID (FID) card or License to Carry (LTC), and who possesses empty (expended) cartridge cases is in violation of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 269, Section 10(h)(1). This is a felony, punishable by nor more than 2 years in prison or a fine not to exceed $500.

Not for having live ammunition, which might almost make sense. For having ammunition components. It might even make sense if it were unexpended ammunition components: bullets, primers, propellant. But the "common sense" law on the books goes further, to include expended (and therefore harmless) bits like shell casings
.

What came to mind while reading of this stupidity is that Mitt Romney, who was Governor of the PROM, last I heard was still defending the personal disarmament laws there as being 'practical' and 'good', and that his signing some of them into law was just dandy and nothing for us to bother our little heads about. And a lot of people in the Stupid Party would still like to see him as President.

No. HELL no. He's demonstrated in the past just how gun owners can be treated and it be considered a Good Thing by him, and I don't want the bastard in the Oval Office. And let's not forget he also signed the socialized medicine bill for PROM into law, and last I heard still defended doing that.

Romney may call himself a Republican, but anyone who can get elected in Mass. is not electable for POTUS in my book.

All in all Mitt was a decent governor, but the "Mittcare" plan is a royal mess and he happily signed the stupid AWB into law.

And I might even be able to get past that (it IS Massachusetts, after all), but then he goes all "Life NRA Member" and "only real conservative" on us in the campaign. I'm afraid that I don't trust him.
