Yes, I'm still alive

Though I'm achy enough to argue about how much.  Most of the matter taken care of this weekend, so that's done.

Stuff to clean up, and other crap to take care of, so I'll hold myself to one piece of idiocy this morning:
"A member of my party is an arms trafficker, so we should ban these guns!"  Etc.
According to the San Francisco Examiner, Speier released a statement saying: "The FBI investigation of Leland Yee reveals how easy it is to import lethal assault weapons that were previously banned."

Speier added:
This case should be a warning to us all that even the most trusted appearing among us are ready to do real harm. Since Congress can pass no meaningful gun control laws, even after the mass killing in Newtown, President Obama should use his pen to slow the import of these weapons, which have no place in our homes.

Yee was indicted last month after trying to help undercover FBI agents obtain "$500,000 to $2.5 million" worth of weapons--"including shoulder fired automatic weapons and missiles...from a Muslim separatist group in the Philippines."
Let's see, a Democrat who wants guns banned was involved in a plan to smuggle automatic weapons(illegal for citizen to own) and SAMs(illegal) and other such crap, so semi-auto firearms should be banned from legal import...

Yep.  Democrat and gun bigot reasoning at its finest.

Doesn't he know that the stuff Yee is accused of importing (really, transshipping to North Africa, IIRC) wasn't banned by the 1994 AWB, and was and still is effectively banned by the National Firearms Act?

He's probably so ignorant of the thing he's talking about that he thinks "Assault Weapons" really are "Assault Weapons".
