Aside from the general disgust with Afghans,

with son now on the ground there you can imagine how effing thrilled I am to read this:
US military commanders in Afghanistan have assigned “guardian angels” to watch over troops as they sleep, among a series of other increased security measures, in the wake of rogue Afghan soldiers targeting Nato forces.

The added protections are part of a directive issued in recent weeks by Gen John Allen, the top US commander in Afghanistan, to guard against insider threats, according to a senior military official.
'Insider threats'=backstabbing murdering pieces of crap.
Remember Obama and his "Afghanistan is The War We Must Win!" crap? He's giving aid and comfort to the enemy(what else would you call negotiating with the Taliban?), crapping on the troops, and it's deteriorated to this point.

Started walking firewatch the first night in boot camp that we were allowed to sleep. Have no idea when the tradition started but I'll bet it is even older than The Marines. My only surprise is that this was not being done as a matter of course - you guard not only the perimiter but the interior. Or at least you ought to.

Remind the son to keep his heasd down as well as his ass.

stay safe.
