A sad note today

Fenris, the wolf who always came to Med-Fair, died the other day.

His people are taking it about like you'd expect.

Damn, I'm gonna miss him.

OH MY GOODNESS! What happened? How old was he?

I had a hybrid wolf once upon a time. At 9 months of age, she was 90 pounds. "Sheba" was taller than me when she would stand on her back legs. One day, out of the blue, she went for my mom's throat. Once that happens, it's only a matter of time before they succeed.

He actually resembles Sheba. Sheba's mother was an Alaskan Malamute and her father was a Timber Wolf. Not once did I ever hear Sheba bark. She howled. Sometimes, at night...I would be in the backyard with her and she would just sit in the darkness and howl. It was beautiful and it was eerie.

Sorry, that sucks. About a year before I started posting I had to put one down (she was a dog not a wolf). Hardest thing I ever had to do.

s,

I know how you feel. I had to have my dog, Peaches, euthanized on July 3rd of this year. I had that girl for 15 years. When you love animals like you should, they become a part of the family. You lose that family member when they pass....the grief is the same.

He started having seizures; a couple at first, then got worse & worse. Wasn't real old, and was very healthy until this.

Fenris was actually almost 10 years old. The vet thinks he had a brain tumor or an absess in his brain. We think he had a seizure on Thursday, made an emergency run to the vet and he just went downhill from there. We finally made the decision to put him out of his misery the following Wednesday. That was one of the hardest things I have ever done, and I don't think I will have the strength to ever do it again. Thank you for all your kind words.
