My, not exactly big news for some reason

Hours before President Donald Trump’s address to the United Nations General Assembly, the U.S. Secret Service announced that it had dismantled a massive, decentralized SIM farm network, just 35 miles from New York City, hidden inside five abandoned apartment buildings. The telecommunications stealth weapon was capable of paralyzing regional cell networks through denial-of-service attacks.
Especially this being in place to affect New York(effing)City, you'd think it would've been really Big News, but no.

There was another story the other day about a guy being chased by cops who crashed into an off-duty FBI guy's car, who turned out to have some interesting stuff in the car, on the 'We may have interrupted something big' type.  And I can't find it.

Throw in a shooting at the ocean, and that awful mess at a church the other day, you have to wonder if any connections.

That was a big set up, some serious thought & money was put into it. I wonder what was planned?
After the 911 attack how important were cell phones?
