Well, it seems that 'retired Labour politician is quite a bit more than that

Ivor Caplin is not a mere Labour backbencher but a former Minister of the Crown: during the Tony Blair years, he was Her late Majesty's Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence - that's Number Three at the ministry. On Saturday he was apprehended in Brighton en route to have sex with a fifteen-year-old boy.

Nor is he all that "former". As our friend Samantha Smith noticed, just a few days ago Mr Caplin was on GB News defending Jess Phillips' sterling performance as "Minister for Safeguarding" against violence to girls:

Last week, former Labour Minister Ivor Caplin criticised people raising awareness of Pakistani-Muslim grooming gangs. Today, he was arrested for (allegedly) trying to meet a 15-year-old for sex. No wonder he disagrees with exposing pedophiles...

And following him on Twitter?
So not just former heavyweights such as Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Home Secretary Jacqui Smith but also many bigshots of the current Cabinet such as Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves...
All of whom, if I remember right, did NOT want an actual investigation.  And now that a few Labour clowns have said "Well, ok, you can have an investigation", just not saying out loud the part of "Set up the way we want it, where it will find what and who we desire", they want to take off as much heat as possible while making sure nobody actually important winds up facing disgrace and ruin.

Not to mention the possibility of a bunch of raped/murdered kids family members showing up at their door with pitchforks, torches, and ropes.

I'm dropping this for tonight, because of a mix of rage and despair.  Read it, be warned that Kim's RCOB* warning is in effect.
