On a flight getting ready to depart for Memphis, Tn....

Jack was sitting on the plane when a guy took the seat beside him. The
guy was an emotional wreck, pale, hands shaking, moaning in fear.
‘What's the matter?’ Jack asked. ‘I've been transferred to Memphis;
there are crazy people there. They've got lots of shootings, gangs,
race riots, drugs, poor public schools and the highest crime rate.’

Jack replied, ‘I've lived in Memphis all my life. It's not as bad as
the media says. Find a nice home, go to work, mind your own business,
enroll your kids in a nice private school. It's as safe a place as
anywhere in the world..’

The guy relaxed and stopped shaking and said, ‘Oh, thank you. I've
been worried to death. But if you live there and say it's OK, I'll
take your word for it. What do you do for a living?’

‘Me?’ said Jack. ‘I'm a tail gunner on a Budweiser truck.’

Yeah, it's probably been around before, but someone sent it, and I like it

Bit of an update on the son

Currently somewhere in Kurdistan. He reports it as being cleaner than many other parts of Iraq, the people are friendly and the security status very stable: something along the lines of "The Peshmerga has control of the borders in the region, and they don't mess with the Peshmerga."

Also, the Kurds treat dogs somewhat better than most other people in the region.

Can't remember if mentioned this before, but he reported after his first tour that the dogs the troops in various FOBs adopted very quickly tended to note that people wearing ACUs "are part of my extended pack" and were treated as such; people not wearing ACUs... not so much.

So a socialist professor murders three people,

and it turns out she'd murdered before. And it seems that a politician, currently in the House of the Evil Party, had something to do with her not being prosecuted for the earlier crime...

Well, hot damn! Good for

Cheaper Than Dirt

A little more on 'all 50 states, snow on the ground'

Mauna Kea, Hawaii.
A snowboarder spoke to the photographer when he finished his decent of the volcano in the last rays of daylight, "This morning I surfed in five-foot waves at Pohoiki. My life is over, I've done everything now, I surfed and snowboarded today. This is a dream come true

And here we have proof that the 'conservative' party in (fG)Britain

is just somewhat less socialist than the CommieLabour Party:
Though Labour and the Tories have denied having any current plans to increase VAT, neither will rule it out and The Times understands a rise in the tax is being considered by both parties.

One City source close to the Tory tax team said: “There is a view across the Conservative Party that VAT is going to have to go up.”

Let's see, they could cut the informers running around making sure you don't watch tv without buying a license, they could cut all the nannies running around fining people for not properly sorting their trash, they could cut all KINDS of crap; but no, they'd rather raise taxes again.

Yeah, THAT'S going to save the economy.

Here's another thought on the idiot Audi ad

from Protein Wisdom. Excerpt:
The more I’ve thought about it, though, the more the teabaggy [my, Davey is sure obsessed with scrotums! … ed] interpretation just doesn’t quite fit. The thrill at the end, when they guy gets to accelerate away from the crowd, turns on satisfying the green police — not rejecting or circumventing them, but satisfying their strict standards. The authority of the green police is taken for granted, never questioned. If you’re looking to appeal to mooks who think the green police are full of it and have no authority, moral or otherwise, why would you make a commercial like that? Why offer escape from a moral dilemma your audience doesn’t acknowledge exists?

The ad only makes sense if it’s aimed at people who acknowledge the moral authority of the green police — people who may find those obligations tiresome and constraining on occasion, who only fitfully meet them, who may be annoyed by sticklers and naggers, but who recognize that living more sustainably is in fact the moral thing to do. This basically describes every guy I know.

Dave actually stumbles on why the ad is so disturbing to people who value freedom – because we find no moral authority inherent in the use of the threat of violence against people who don’t separate their trash.

And that Dave doesn’t know anyone that would question that authority is even more disturbing. Dave would be that person in Iran who supports the roving Moral Police who arrest or ticket women who show a little head hair or are out in public without a male relative as a chaperon because, you know, those obligations tiresome and constraining on occasion … but it is in fact the moral thing to do.

Clue to Dave: morality presupposes choice. When you take that choice away at the point of a gun, you strip individuals of their moral agency. And while law and morality overlap (i.e. laws against murder, stealing, et al) the law is a necessarily (in a country founded on Liberty) small subset of morality. Adultry is immoral but not illegal. A law against premeditated dumping of known, dangerous toxins in a lake is not equivalent – morally or logically – with a law against incandescent bulbs, campfires and using more than one square of toilet paper.

Dressed up in 'higher' motives, Planned Parenthood

still stands to make a lot of money off this. And considering their record, I wouldn't trust them in any case.

It sounds good,

but I'll believe it when the plants actually start construction. And the Obamites stop trying to destroy nuke plants in general.

I'm sure this makes Courtney Cook popular with her progressive friends;

which doesn't change at all what a miserable conniving bitch she is.

Go read, I'm not excerpting. It could also have been titled "How to get a troop killed, maybe along with some of those around him, so you can feel 'fulfilled'." Or whatever the excuse is.

Oh, and note the great concern she shows for the children involved; for that alone she deserves a turn at the whipping post.

Damn, a chief CRU guy has a burst of honesty

Or just got scared. Or something.
Phil Jones, the professor behind the “Climategate” affair, has admitted some of his decades-old weather data was not well enough organised.

He said this contributed to his refusal to share raw data with critics – a decision he says he regretted.
...
But he agreed that two periods in recent times had experienced similar warming. And he agreed that the debate had not been settled over whether the Medieval Warm Period was warmer than the current period.
This is a BIG admission from these guys; it opens up their bag and lets the cat out officially. We'll see what happens next.

By the way, the way the AGW Believers- including Jones- tried to wipe the Medieval Warm Period off the records WAS screwing with the data, and he damn well knows it.

Two problems with this case from Britain

First, that the crown prosecutors dragged this poor bastard through all this.
Second, a past record of violent crime, they admitted what they did and got a fucking suspended sentence and 'community service'?

At least the jury had the balls and integrity to acquit.

Bacon-Cheese Turtleburgers!

Wow.

I have to wonder, do the Hebrew National franks object?

Thanks to daughter for passing this along

Bad action by a robbery victim

Firing at the bad guys car as it sped away.

Snow. All fifty states.

Hehehehehe

Oh yeah, we're in the very BEST of hands.

I would not have thought it possible that one could publish a book-length assessment of America’s security challenges and responses and NOT address the problem of Islamic radicalism or the Iranian bomb – but that’s just what Defence Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Mullen have done. From this one can draw one of two possible conclusions: these men are really, really stupid (not very likely), or they have deliberately minimised the current security threats to please the Obama administration and support the President’s desire to cut defence spending. The smart money is on the latter explanation.

I have to add Bill Nye the slandering little bastardScience Guy

to the list of people who can kiss my ass.
"[T]here's more energy in the atmosphere and this is stirring things up," Nye said. "If you want to get serious about it, these guys claiming that the snow in Washington disproves climate change are almost unpatriotic. It's really, they're denying science.
Screw you, Nye.

Oh, and apparently you never heard of Climaquiddick; not too up on this, are you? Or this?

It's started

Just heard the Marjah operation has begun.

It seems there's a small epidemic of politicians

getting bit in the ass by their own words.

This probably ain't SFW,

but- aw hell, just watch it.

Theo, you nearly owed me a keyboard
