There was a book I read years ago called 'Flare', (updated with link)

about the effects of solar flares when things have been quiet and people forgot/aren't thinking of what they do.  Well, one just reminded everyone.  I'll try to find a link for the book when have time.
Update: I found it.


And the leftists seem to have a high proportion of violent assholes among their ranks, don't they?  This time, this one killed his own kid.

    When I think of solar flares and fiction I think of "Inconstant Moon" (a short story) by Larry Niven.
    Worth the read IMO...
