A lot of fire arms training we had on things we didn't use a lot was Fam-Fireing. They'd give you a short class on say the LAW send a dummy around while they were talking about it and then have someone fire it at the range before you got your ONE chance at it.
I am 60 and have been shooting since I was five years old. I tried out for the 84' US National team. I have shot "F" class and Palma. All my military training did was teach me to hate the M-16. I do own several" Arms of military utility" I just hate the AR. So unlike a democrat I don't try and ban them, I just don't own one. --Ray
