Couple of days ago got to handle a piece of history:

Springfield Trapdoor rifle, dated 1869, in .50-70.  Looked to be in quite shootable condition.

    My first big bore rifle was the Harrington and Richardson reproduction of the cavalry trap door.
    I still think it looks right.
