Been busy today, so I'll just point to two politicians for demonstrating just what

brain-dead fools and dirtbags they are. First, we have the appropriately named Weiner(NSD-NY). If you're not familiar with this idiot, he's pissed at Glenn Beck and decided to cause him trouble by attacking a company that advertises on the show. Number one, the man is a dirtbag of the first water to do this; number two, he's an absolute freakin' idiot:
Weiner had such little evidence to back up his Weiner report that he actually decided to use a message board as a credible source of complaints. Before we move on, ask yourself this: If you were a sixth grade teacher, and your student turned in a report citing a message board as their source, would you give them a good grade? Any rational teacher would fail a sixth grader for doing that, so we should all definitely acknowledge this EpicWeinerFail.

But, it’s one thing to use a message board as a source. It’s another thing to use a message board that completely disagrees with you as a source. The founder of “Rip -off Reports” did an investigation on the claims about Goldline. They found the following:

“Consumers can feel confident and secure when doing business with Goldline International.”

“They provide extensive free information to help people make informed choices when buying precious metals. - feel confident & secure when doing business with Goldline International.”

“Goldline International has made every effort over the past few months to deal with any client issues that might arise. Because of our efforts and those of Goldline International, Rip-off Report is confident in giving Goldline a positive rating.”

“Rip-off Report knows there is no company or individual that is perfect – Goldline International knows this also and demonstrates their need for continuing improvement – that is why Rip-off Report comfortably states that you can be completely confident, safe and secure when doing business with them…”

And
From the NY Times: “The Better Business Bureau, which has given Goldline an A+ rating, said Tuesday that it was standing by that. A representative of the bureau said it had recently re-reviewed Goldline in response to Mr. Weiner’s accusations and saw no reason for a change. “It’s a company with not that many complaints,” said Gary Almond, from the bureau. When compared with other companies that sell gold, “there was a remarkable difference in how each one addressed complaints,” noting that some of those other companies had F ratings.”

Weiner response: This is one fact that Weiner prepared for. His claim? That the Better Business Bureau might be guilty of fraud, making the not-so-subtle accusation that Goldline paid for their A+ rating. And Glenn is the one accused of being a conspiracy theorist?

That's your first, the second is actually a combination of a bunch of people in the Obama Administration and Rep. Sestak:
Rep. Joe Sestak, winner of the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary, is refusing to provide more information on what job he was offered by a White House official to drop of that race, although he confirmed again that the incident occurred.

The White House was backing incumbent Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) in the primary. Sestak acknowledged in an interview in February that he was offered a position by an unnamed White House official - a potential violation of federal law - but has not offered any specifics on conversation. Republicans are trying to use the issue against Sestak in the November Senate race.

Gee, ya think maybe? Since this appears to be an actual federal crime and all?

Had a chance to ride something I've never been on before

A Ducati 748. Never been on a crotch rocket before.

Impressions:
0 to 70 in AAAHAAHHAAAAAH! I mean, DAMN. And at 70 the thing was obviously just loafing along.

It'd be real easy to get in trouble on it, the handling is much different from the Vulcan.

Good brakes, good suspension, but the riding position would kill my hands after a while.

Did I mention the sucker is fast?

In 6th gear, at 60, you had to watch it because it just seemed to creep back up to about 70; took very little throttle change to affect speed quite a bit.

A very impressive bike, but not the thing for me; I need to sit more upright.

A bit more on the SEIU assault on a private home

Nina Easton's account of the SEIU demonstration that terrorized the son of her next-door neighbor -- the deputy general counsel of Bank of America -- has drawn remarkably little attention. That's the way that SEIU wanted it; the union only alerted one of its handmaidens at the Huffington Post of the event. Easton notes that only "a friendly Huffington Post blogger showed up, narrowcasting coverage to the union's leftist base. The rest of the message these protesters brought was personal-aimed at frightening Baer and his family, not influencing a broader public."

Easton provided a straightforward eyewitness account of the demonstration, protesting mortgage foreclosures. Based on her reporting, Easton concludes that the protest was something of a pretext. She offered an explanation of SEIU's demonstration based on its current organizing goals and noted in passing that "SEIU, suffering financially, owes the bank nearly $4 million in interest and fees. Bank of America declined comment on the loans."

Easton is almost certainly on to something. We should pause to consider the event she witnessed long and hard. It provides another window onto the phenomenon that Michael Barone has dubbed "gangster government."

And the union thugs aren't happy that Easton had the nerve to pass on word of what happened.
Amazingly, the SEIU has actually taken aim at Easton for reporting on this incident. Their defense? Easton’s husband is a Republican strategist and has a lobbyist as a client – oh, the horror! (Especially considering that the SEIU itself is also a lobbyist). In their post “Nina Easton & the Bank Lobbyists: Too Close for Comfort,” SEIU’s crack Googlers researchers break the case wide open:
“The really interesting question here is: why is Ms. Easton so angry? And why has she decided to use her position as a member of the media to air her own personal rant at the people who showed up to share their foreclosure stories?

Nina Easton’s husband’s firm has Business Roundtable as a client, a special interest group that counts giant banks like Bank of America as members.

One Google search clears it up pretty quickly. Her husband is Russell Schriefer, Republican strategist and consultant to several big corporate interest groups. In fact, her husband’s client list includes the Business Roundtable, a special interest group that counts Bank of America and other Wall Street banks among its members.

Ms. Easton’s husband used to be a corporate lobbyist himself, before he started his own consulting firm for Republican politicians and corporate interest groups like the Business Roundtable and the Chamber of Commerce. Now, according to his website, he helps garner positive media for “a wide range of corporate clients including Fortune 500 companies and national associations.”
Wow. Amazing. That kind of muckraking puts my time working at LexisNexis to shame. Perhaps I should take SEIU’s employment recruiters up on one of their recent job offers sitting in my email inbox. (really, they are hiring, and they did email…can you imagine that job interview?)

Thugs. The kind who prefer to work in as much darkness as possible. Which means they need a halogen lamp turned on them.

And I'll repeat: the DC cops who escorted these clowns need to be punished. And whoever authorized the action should be fired.

So after several coats of Minwax finish

here's the gripsI love walnut.

One thing I've found you can do with the Minwax Antique Oil Finish is after you do the final coat you have a very glossy finish, but:
steel wool it lightly, not down to the wood but scuff the finish thoroughly,
get a piece of soft cloth, put a little finish on it and buff the wood lightly
then let it dry and you get a very nice matte or low-gloss finish. Which I like much better on many things. Best to let it dry a couple of days before use it, so it can dry hard.

Let's start this Monday with another actor who wants a say in your life

The world is becoming so overpopulated that nature will one day wreak its revenge, claims Jeremy Irons, the actor.
Launching himself as a green campaigner, Irons has revealed plans to make a documentary about sustainability and waste disposal, likening himself to Michael Moore, the controversial film maker, although “not as silly”
.
Mr. Irons, Moore isn't 'silly'; he's a lying progressive bastard who has a great fondness for tyrants(he'd like to be one, for that matter).
The actor, who says he is apolitical although he is a former Labour donor and his wife Sinead Cusack is “deeply socialist”, has already made a plea for action in a short video for an organisation campaigning to end world hunger.
Labour donor... wife's a commie... yeah, he's as apolitical as my dog is a cat. Further demonstration:
The grimmer alternative, says Irons, is to continue to inflate the richer western economies to bursting point at the expense of poorer nations: “We would have to ringfence those who are starving and fighting over water, keeping everybody out. We’d live in a sort of fortress world, with an area which is fine, with its guarded oil pipe coming from Afghanistan or wherever, but I can’t see that working.”
'Apolitical' my ass; standard socialist/progressive "You have to starve someone else if you want to eat" bullshit.
The ultimate solution, he says, is for us all to live less decadently — growing our own food and recycling instead of replacing goods: “People must drop their standard of living [so] the wealth can be spread about. There’s a long way to go.”

Which means poor countries will have even less opportunity to become less poor, because they won't be able to sell their goods and develop their resources. But that's not as important as his theoretical 'wealth spread about' bullshit. With someone like him in control of it, of course.
Added:
What is it about Greenies and their pervy yearning for the apocalypse which is going to teach us all a lesson for messing with mother Gaia?

And what is it about people with seven homes? This is the same number as are currently owned by our terrifying new environment minister Chris “Chicken Licken” Huhne. Al Gore, the Prince of Wales and Zac Goldsmith have similar numbers, I’m sure.

Could it be that “sustainability” is a concept one only truly understands when one has grown so incredibly rich that one is able to shelter from the consequences of one’s eco-fanaticism in the seclusion and comfort of one’s many agreeable homes?

Some history on the Katyn Forest Massacre, committed by the Soviet Union and covered up by politicians and media who, in some cases, were in the tank for socialism quite a while ago:
On May 10, 1943, Life called the Poles “the most chip-shouldered chauvinists in Europe,” and Newsweek ridiculed the Polish attempts to find out the truth about Katyn as evidence of “that curious trait of unrealism that still permeates Polish politics.” The New Statesman did not shy away from implicitly justifying the Soviet crime (without admitting that it happened): “The Soviet government, often with reason, would regard the landed aristocracy and the officer class in Poland in the light of Fascists and class enemies.” This implies that the Bolshevik category of “class enemy” should suffice for a justification of killing thousands of people. (At the same time, similar semantic operations were used by the Nazis to justify the killing of their “racial enemies” such as Jews). The Spectator, meanwhile, came to a more “philosophical” reason why no investigation of the Katyn massacre should be pursued: “There is more to be said for leaving the dead to their sleep. No amount of investigation will bring them to life.” To put it briefly, the truth about Katyn could not be told because it would expose the most protected taboo of the war—that the democratic West, in order to liberate the world from one criminal, allied itself with another.

Speaking of socialists and bastards, some information on a bunch of corrupt academics and how they just keep getting honors and money, despite lies and insults and abuse they spread.

It appears the Metro DC Police Department needs to be cleaned out; at the very least, whoever gave the orders for this should be fired.
So, let’s sum this up: A caravan of SEIU buses receive a Metropolitan (D.C.) Police Department escort to a private home in Maryland where the protesters, from all appearances, violate Montgomery County law by engaging in a stationary protest. The Montgomery County police were not informed by their cross-jurisdictional colleagues of the impending, unusually large protest pending in their jurisdiction.

Snork. For all of you out there across the globe who have fought so hard to tackle the hideous enemy of our planet, namely carbon emissions, that bogus god you worship named "Climate Change" or "Global Warming", there is some really bad news that will be very painful for you to process.

The current volcanic eruption going on in Iceland, since it first started spewing volcanic ash, has, to this point, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet. Not only that, this single act of God has added emissions to the earth estimated to be 42 times more than can be corrected by the extreme human regulations proposed for annual reductions
.
Nature can be a bitch, can't she?

It appears the Administration is still playing games with terrorism data; not a good thing.
The Obama administration has failed to keep congressional intelligence officials in the loop on the investigation into the botched Times Square bombing, as required by law, the top Democrat and Republican on the Senate intelligence committee charged in a letter this week.

"Having to fight over access to counterterrorism information is not productive and ultimately makes us less secure," wrote Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein and Vice Chairman Christopher S. "Kit" Bond in a letter to President Obama on Thursday
.

It appears Gov. Jindal isn't going to play the "We have to have more studies" game. And there's a Coastie officer who isn't dodging. Though I have to wonder, what pressures was he under to act as he did before? And to take blame now?

Yes, I AM a suspicious type anymore.

Oh Canada, you're being run by idiots and buffoons.

Why Californicated is so screwed; and how the illegal alien lobby is trying to do it everywhere.
In 2001, the last time I attended the Monterey County Fair, the Mexican flag flew above the American flag. I asked an official why that was permitted. She replied matter-of-factly that California belonged to Mexico because the United States stole it. She added that Mexico is gradually reclaiming California by becoming the demographic majority.

And in the People's Republic of Massachusetts, we have a demonstration of Irony:
State Rep. Mike Moran of Brighton was rear-ended by a suspected illegal immigrant this week. The suspect was wearing a Mexican costume at the time of the crash where he slammed into Moran at 60 mph.

The suspect, 27-year-old Isaias Naranjo, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a valid license. According to the report, when told of the serious charges he would be facing, he just laughed.

But because of action taken by Gov. Deval Patrick, state police were unable to notify immigration authorities that Naranjo might be illegal
.

And in one more demonstration of just how well Richard the Turd(as Kim used to call him) Daley's precious personal disarmament laws are working,
At least nine people were shot on a hot night on Chicago's South Side, with one of them killed, authorities said. No one was in custody for any of the shootings this morning.

Well, trying to make someone else pay your way IS the Chicago way...
White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and his family dined on seafood at an Eilat restaurant and left the bill for the Israeli Tourism Ministry, according to reports in Israeli media. The report was met with consternation by MK Dr. Michael Ben-Ari of the National Union, who wants the bill sent back to Emanuel.
...
Ben-Ari fired off a letter to the Attorney General in which he said: “I was amazed to hear that following the sumptuous meal at the ‘Boston’ restaurant Emanuel handed the bill to a Ministry of Tourism representative who was present. In my humble legal opinion there is no possibility of making the State of Israel pay for such a meal, as part of a private visit by the White House Chief of Staff and his family.”

And speaking of the Chicago Progressive Way,
President Obama has decided to pre-announce to the world once-secret American ballistic missile tests and satellite launches.

The Democratic administration’s goal is to show a friendlier face to other countries and to coax Russia to do the same.

It’s part of a confidence-boosting initiative launched, so to speak, last fall when Obama suddenly abandoned the U.S. missile-defense system in Eastern Europe that had exercised the Russians, though it was aimed at potential future missiles from Iran.

Obama hoped such a unilateral U.S. forfeiture would encourage Russia to put pressure on Iran to halt its nuclear weapons development. So far, no good on that.

Of course, the point of secret tests by any state in an insecure, suspicious world is to deny advance notice to potential enemies, making it more difficult if not impossible for them to gain intelligence by monitoring the tests themselves
.
Yeah, I'm sure Putin will just roll over and wave his legs in the air he'll be so happy to join in.

That's about enough stomach upset for one morning.

The Crittenden take on Obama's speech at West Point*

He says “we” a lot in talking about the success in Iraq, never once saying, as he so often does about things he doesn’t like, that it was inherited. Which is odd, because success in Iraq, as well as the containment of al-Qaeda in the greater war against Islamic extremism, is the one thing he most definitely inherited without having lifted a finger in aid of it.

Think about it. The West Point class of 2010 is made up of cadets who had the guts to commit themselves to combat leadership, who believed in their country even at the lowest depths of that bitter war, when the media and the pols — half of them anyway — were screaming “Get out! Run! Devil take the hindmost!” You’d think the president who sought to crate a new Vietnam in Iraq would approach Americans like the West Point Class of 2010 with a little more humility. Gotta hand it to him. The man’s got gall.

Here’s a line he might have tried: “I really have no business standing here lecturing you, when there is so much you could teach me. About service to one’s nation. About what any one of us might dare to do, to be a positive force for the future of this world … ” Something like that
.

*Where, if there were justice, he wouldn't be allowed to set foot

The shortest way to put this is that if the police can video you,

you can damn well video them whether they like it or not. I have a real big problem with this "You're not allowed to record us while we're in public" crap; especially when it's used as a club to try to beat people into obedience.

Have you heard of S. 3388

the Service Member Second Amendment Protection Act of 2010?
This bill protects the second amendment rights of soldiers and DOD civilian employees by prohibiting the DOD from requiring the registration of privately owned firearms, ammunition, or other weapons beyond what is already required by state and federal law.
...
S. 3388 allows a military or civilian employee of the Department of Defense to possess, own, carry, or use a private owned firearm or ammunition in keeping with state and federal laws without the additional interference of the Department of Defense when those items are not located on property owned and operated by DOD.

- The Department of Defense will continue to regulate military and civilian employee’s possession of a firearm while on official business or in uniform.

- Regulations adopted before the enactment of this S. 3388 that prohibit the protection of second amendment rights will be void.

Sounds good to me

Just took a look at Berry's to check bullet prices

and found these: 110-grain plated for .30 Carbine. Quite a good price; interesting thing is the note
When loading these plated rifle bullets do not exceed a max velocity of 1950 fps.
Considering the velocity of GI ball in that cartridge is about 1950, that would indicate you could load these up to full velocity and not have any problems.

Going to have to get some when I can and give them a try

Some of this makes for a damned depressing Saturday morning

Now Obama's off the prompter, when his silver-tongued rhetoric invariably turns to sludge. But he's talking about a dead man here, a guy murdered in public for all the world to see. Furthermore, the deceased's family is standing all around him. And, even for a busy president, it's the work of moments to come up with a sentence that would be respectful, moving and true. Indeed, for Obama, it's the work of seconds, because he has a taxpayer-funded staff sitting around all day with nothing to do but provide him with that sentence.

Instead, he delivered the one above, which in its clumsiness and insipidness is most revealing. First of all, note the passivity: "The loss of Daniel Pearl." He wasn't "lost." He was kidnapped and beheaded. He was murdered on a snuff video. He was specifically targeted, seized as a trophy, a high-value scalp. And the circumstances of his "loss" merit some vigor in the prose. Yet Obama can muster none.

Even if Americans don't get the message, the rest of the world does. This week's pictures of the leaders of Brazil and Turkey clasping hands with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are also monuments to American passivity.
...
Listen to his killer's words: "The American Jew Daniel Pearl." We hit the jackpot! And then we cut his head off. Before the body was found, The Independent's Robert Fisk offered a familiar argument to Pearl's kidnappers: Killing him would be "a major blunder... the best way of ensuring that the suffering" – of Kashmiris, Afghans, Palestinians – "goes unrecorded." Other journalists peddled a similar line: if you release Danny, he'll be able to tell your story, get your message out, "bridge the misconceptions." But the story
did get out; the severed head is the message; the only misconception is that that's a misconception.

I hate to think how Pearl's father felt, being used the way he and his family were. But that's what Obama & Co. do best, use other people.

And speaking of either passivity or stupidity,
And who was responsible? One of the torpedo fragments bore North Korean markings. Moreover, the recovered parts were identical to those depicted in a blueprint of a torpedo in a North Korean marketing brochure. Investigators also found traces of a mix of explosives used by communist-bloc countries, including North Korea. Other evidence, analyzed by a group of specialists from six nations, pointed to the only plausible culprit: Pyongyang.

So what will the United States, required by treaty to defend South Korea, do about the sinking? Just hours after the incident, Washington leaned on President Lee Myung-bak to stay quiet and forego retaliation for the ghastly crime. The Obama administration has so far failed to label the torpedo attack an act of war. On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said that North Korea had already been punished merely because it had further isolated itself from the international community by committing the horrific act
.
Because if they acknowledge what it was, they might have to actually do something other than just talk; and even talking nasty, that's too high a price for a bunch of dead South Korean sailors, right?

No, I don't think teenagers 'sexting' is a good idea; I do think charging them with a felony is worse. And just flat stupid.

And, as if the National Socialist Democrats haven't proven before that they have no regard for things like 'truth',
While addressing a crowd at a 2007 Memorial Day parade -- which included the family of a Marine killed in Iraq -- Blumenthal said, "In Vietnam, we had to endure taunts and insults, and no one said, welcome home."

The Democrat added, "I say, welcome home."

In fact, Blumenthal had never served in Vietnam. So naturally the Democrats last night endorsed this pathological liar.
Despite the revelations, state Democrats gave Blumenthal their endorsement last night to run for the seat vacated by Chris Dodd, who is retiring.

And on that cheery note, I leave you for the day.

And yet more BS from Marriott

As a bonus, the hotel had hand-outs on its front desk actively encouraging visitors to place themselves in legal jeopardy by asserting the patently false notion that firearms could be checked/stored at the Charlotte Convention Center - a center where possession of firearms, regardless of intent, is a criminal act as verified by Workman. So, following these directions, armed guests would rush up to Center security, announce they had a gun to check, and then be at risk of arrest, imprisonment, and seizure of their firearm.

Very. Naughty. Indeed.

I will leave it to the attorneys in the community to determine with certainty if such action rises to the level of criminal conduct (Bait'n'switch? Fraud?) though my lay suspicions certainly leave me rather curious if those merry boundaries were crossed by Diehl and company
.
At the VERY least, this looks like Marriott well and truly screwed the pooch. And tried to screw every attendee. And is now- well, we've already discussed that.

For a major hotel to do something like this is just flat idiotic. If someone HAD been arrested over this, can you imagine the lawsuit? And now they've got the kind of publicity- you'd rather run barefoot through a vat of centipedes than have this kind.

If you need further proof how in the tank the major media is for the Evil Party,

Left wing wunderkind, Bill Richardson, Democrat and waiting-for-indictment corruptocrat, lame-duck governor of New Mexico, has ordered the state department of children's and family services to begin reporting illegal immigrant children to ICS.

Oh the horror of it all! Reported by the NY Times, right? Well, no. Reported by the Washington Post and the LA Times, right? Well, er, ah, no. But the Associated press picked it up and broadcast it to the world, right? Uh, well, no. Sissy Chrissie Matthews is feeling a vibration all the way up to his prostate gland, right? Well, not so's you'd notice, but then with that guy...

Don't bother Googling for it because it's not there, but it was at the top of the front page of the Albuquerque Journal yesterday (subscription only - free story here courtesy of the Las Cruces Sun-News). Does this thundering national media silence tell you anything about who controls the flow of information in this world?

I'd heard of this BS with the Marines in Beirut, but didn't know Biden

had anything to do with it. If this is indeed the case, then VP Biden is an even bigger asshole bastard than I thought.
Many years later, I met another former Marine who had been a senior NCO there. We began to exchange stories of our time in the Corps, as former Marines are prone to do. When the subject of the Middle East arose, he told me a disturbing tale. In a nutshell, Biden, a few weeks before the bombing, had visited the barracks. He had a fit at the defensive posture of the unit, which had prudently set up barricades, automatic weapons emplacements, etc. Per Biden, they were not deployed as appropriate to their "peacekeeping" mission - too warlike, and "sending the wrong message."

He demanded that the fortifications be dismantled. The senior NCO on the scene respectfully reminded the senator that he was not in the chain of command. After throwing a tantrum, Biden and the rest of the congressional fact-finding mission left for home. A few days later, word came down from the Pentagon to comply with Biden's instruction. Evidently, Biden had located a spineless officer at the Pentagon. Also included in the order were some changes to the ROE (Rules of Engagement) that slowed response to any attacks. (Marines were not allowed to keep their weapons loaded) The one Marine, a young lance corporal, who was able to fire on the truck as it headed toward the barracks was only able to do so because he had kept his weapon loaded in spite of the order, after the unit first sergeant had hinted he would turn a blind eye. This is the same young Marine, that suffering from survivor guilt, took his own life shortly after
.
For that matter, if this is indeed true, Biden ought to have his ass kicked out of that office, out of DC and into a giant vat of scorpions.

With rabies.

And then we get to the beginning of the CY post:
Commanders have reportedly ordered a U.S. military unit in Afghanistan to patrol in a manner that could handicap them.

Some soldiers are being ordered to conduct patrols without a round chambered in their weapons, The US Report has learned from an anonymous source at a forward operating base in Afghanistan. Our source was unsure if the order came from his unit or if it affected other units.
I mean, are these assholes TRYING to get our troops killed?

If you want to see an argument on snap caps,

head over to Tam's. And then Og's place.

Earlier today friend was cleaning a RG revolver he'd picked up

at some point, and took off the side plate. I looked inside.

Maybe it was just the short look, but it made me long for the simple insides of a S&W or Colt.

Starting with, I think Mexican bandits attacking people

in a Texas lake counts as 'Mexican violence crossing the border'.

The answer is, "Brennan still has a job because he's doing what Obama wants, which is giving aid and comfort to terrorists so they can oppose Israel. And us."

La Gaceta boldly exposes the failure of the Spanish renewable policy and how Obama has been following it. The headline screams: “Spain admits that the green economy as sold to Obama is a disaster.”

This is now an explosive scandal in Spain, coming on the heels of shabby treatment over there in payback to an academic team for having pointed the disaster out (joined by equally shabby treatment by the Obama administration).

The real news is that already notorious photo: the president of Brazil, our largest ally in Latin America, and the prime minister of Turkey, for more than half a century the Muslim anchor of NATO, raising hands together with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the most virulently anti-American leader in the world.

That picture -- a defiant, triumphant take-that-Uncle-Sam -- is a crushing verdict on the Obama foreign policy. It demonstrates how rising powers, traditional American allies, having watched this administration in action, have decided that there's no cost in lining up with America's enemies and no profit in lining up with a U.S. president given to apologies and appeasement
.

If you missed it the other day, here's some of the interview where the puppet Calderon slipped and told the truth:
Blitzer: “So if people want to come from Guatemala or Honduras or El Salvador or Nicaragua, they want to just come into Mexico, can they just walk in?”

CALDERON: No! They need to fulfill, uh, a form. They need to establish their right name. We analyze if they have not a criminal precedence.

BLITZER: Do Mexican police go around asking for papers of people they suspect are illegal immigrants?

CALDERON: Of course! Of course!

BLITZER: If somebody sneaks in from Nicaragua or some other country in Central America through the southern border of Mexico and they wind up in Mexico, they can going get a job?

CALDERON: No, no, no.

BLITZER: They can work?

CALDERON: If somebody do that without permissions, we send — we send back them.
Wonderful, isn't it?

And Mayor Daley of Chicago demonstrates why we should be very leery of politicians and their minions having a monopoly on arms. By being the nasty little asshat he his.

I finally found some of the new Hornady Critical Defense ammo

at last weekend's gun show and got some .380 to try out. Cycled perfectly through my pistol, somewhat snappy recoil and hit right at point of aim(short range, of course).

If the bullets perform as advertised, this would be some really good stuff for self-defense

Remember the mess with Marriott?

I got a response today from them. Key bit:
During the group's stay, there was some confusion regarding the hotel's position on the carrying of firearms by the public. It has been the hotel's long-standing policy to not allow firearms by the public on the premises. In accordance with applicable law, this policy is posted in several locations around the hotel. The permanent notice at the hotel's entrance had been removed during a recent renovation and was replaced with temporary signage. This temporary posting was removed for a brief period of time, which may have led to guest uncertainty. We sincerely regret and apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.(bold mine)
Etc., etc. Slight problem: from the Examiner article:
GRNC selected the hotel because it did not post against firearms. Inspections of the main entrance were made both the day prior and the day of the event. So imagine the surprise of GRNC supporters who found that signs barring guns printed by computer had been scotch-taped into place on Friday evening during the event.

So. If they normally do post 'no carry', then they didn't bother to tell the event planners about it- which is flat idiotic, considering the event. Or they don't normally post it, but decided to AFTER THE EVENT STARTED, which is even more idiotic, and I would think a good way to get sued if someone had been arrested.

I can't decide if this is an example of general idiocy, or "Say something to cover it up and make it go away."

It still strikes me how few people realize just how cheap and plentiful

a lot of really vital materials are. And how amazing a thing that is.

The chisels I posted on the other day, for instance. A bunch of years ago I went into an overhead-door company and asked if I could buy some broken springs. They asked why, and the idea of someone forging them into things seemed to make them happy; they took me to a trailer full of them and said "Take what you can use." I grabbed half-a-dozen pieces, all about four feet long. I have no idea how many different things I made out of them; screwdrivers and awls and punches and chisels and flint strikers and small knives and springs and arrowheads.

Think about that. Very good quality spring steel, and they could afford to just give some to me. Historically, it wasn't that long ago that that trailer load would have been a somewhat precious cargo: probably a ton of high-carbon steel of very consistent quality in a form that could easily be used to make any of a range of things, from blades to different springs for instance.

Aluminum. Once so rare there's some in the British Crown Jewels, now so common we can make drink cans and car body parts and electrical wires out of it.

When you think about what was required- in thinking of, in designing, in engineering the ways to better mine and smelt and refine and roll/extrude/stamp these and other metals on this scale... And they're so common people rarely actually think about them.

By the way: few years back I found some small-diameter stone drills- the kind you hit with a hammer- at a salvage place. You want to talk about chisels... I took one piece about eight inches long, chucked it in the drill and used that to spin it against the sanding disk on the belt sander to turn about two inches into a nice taper, then a point; best prick punch I've ever used.

And while the God-damned Democrats are applauding Calderon

for attacking our laws and borders,
Two police officers were shot dead in West Memphis today and two others were injured in a shootout. The suspects were shot dead in their van at a Walmart. Police had pulled over a white van with Ohio plates (belonging to a church) when they were shot ded. FOX News reported that the suspects were Hispanic. CNN reported that the suspects used automatic weapons.

Interstate 40, where the shootings occurred, is a known drug route

and
EDMONDS, Wash. – The man accused of raping a woman behind an Edmonds grocery store has been deported at least four times in the past 15 years, reports KIRO Radio.

An officer responding to a woman's cry for help Sunday night found 46-year-old Jose Madrigal on top of the woman and arrested him.

According to court documents, the woman told police that Madrigal had followed her and offered her $35 for sex, but she said no. She said Madrigal then forced her into the bushes on the north side of the store and raped her
.

So while the socialist president of Mexico plays puppet to help Obama push his bullshit, and the National Socialist Democrats applaud, this is what is happening. This is what they want us to ignore in the name of being 'citizens of the world'.

Calderon, you're a miserable bastard. Just like Obama. And we're not going to let you destroy our nation.

Pres. Calderon, you are most cordially invited to kiss my ass

you miserable little socialist hypocrite.

"Of COURSE we check ID! Of COURSE we want to know if you have a criminal record! Of COURSE we throw you out of the country if we find you working illegally!"

And blaming us for the cartels having military arms? You blame US not having an 'assault weapons' ban? You can't keep them from bringing God-knows-how-many tons of drugs in, but they can somehow only get guns from up here?

Go fuck yourself, and your whole corrupt nation, you sorry bastard, I'm sick of you and it blaming us for your problems.

'Misspoke' my ass, Blumenthal, you're a lying bastard

Just found this at Insty:
The Stamford Advocate hit gold from a parade speech in November 2008:

“I wore the uniform in Vietnam and many came back to all kinds of disrespect. Whatever we think of war, we owe the men and women of the armed forces our unconditional support.”

The occasion was the Stamford Veterans Day parade Nov. 9, 2008.

The speaker was Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, as quoted by The Advocate.

A trove of potential bulletin board material was unearthed Tuesday by Hearst Connecticut Newspapers from its archives quoting the once seemingly unflappable U.S. Senate candidate on his military record, one that he has been accused of embellishing.

And more:

During a May 18, 2009, military board tribute to veterans in Shelton, Blumenthal was quoted by the Connecticut Post as saying, “When we returned from Vietnam, I remember the taunts, the verbal and even physical abuse we encountered.”

Miserable, lying little bastard. Who's still lying to make 'excuses' for the earlier lies.

Oh, this has got to hurt

'Mann-Made', hehehe.

And it's 'Draw Mohammed Day'!

Suitable illustration by Zombie:
in a very good article, from which I will borrow a bit:
So you can see the urge of every sane-minded Westerner to say a hearty Fuck you! to anyone who tries to erode away the bedrock of our free society. The more insistent (and violent) these attempts at erosion, the less civil the resistance will become. Which is exactly as it should be. If the Islamists want us to to stop mocking (or even questioning) Mohammed, they can achieve this goal quite simply: Just go away and leave us alone. Don’t bother us, and we won’t bother you. Seriously, 99% of non-Muslims don’t give a good goddamn about Mohammed one way or the other, and we’d gladly ignore him and his followers til the end of time –
if they’d just stop trying to boss us around. But if someone comes to our safe haven and tries to impose a repressive or restrictive rule on us, then that is the exact rule we’re going to flout until the interlopers learn their lesson: We don’t take kindly to bullshit medieval religious oppression in these parts.

And so we return to J.E. Dyer’s essay, where she essentially argues that freedom of speech is simply the vehicle through which we can express our political ideals without fear of reprisal. While that may be true, it leaves out the final piece of the puzzle: Freedom of speech itself is our highest political ideal. We need freedom of speech not merely so we can discuss Aristotle and the Teapot Dome Scandal and non-proliferation treaties, but more importantly we need freedom of speech so we can defend the unconditional right of freedom to speak — or think, or draw, for that matter. As soon as someone comes along as says (as Dyer does) that some forms of speech are “better” or “higher” than others, the implication is that the the low-class expressions are somehow less worthy of defending. But that way lies the road to ruin. We would soon begin to slide down what I call Niemöller’s Slippery Slope, which in this instance would begin, “First they came for the cartoonists….”

Opposing view from Althouse.

From Mark Steyn:
Provocation for its own sake is one of the dreariest features of contemporary culture, but that's not what this is about. Nick Gillespie's post reminds us that the three most offensive of the "Danish cartoons" - including the one showing Mohammed as a pig - were not by any Jyllands-Posten cartoonists but were actually faked by Scandinavian imams for the purposes of stirring up outrage among Muslims. As Mr Gillespie says:

It is nothing less than amazing that holy men decrying the desecration of their religion would create such foul images, but there you have it. It is as if the pope created “Piss Christ” and then passed it off as the work of critics of Catholicism.

So, if it really is a sin to depict Mohammed, then these imams will be roasting in hell. (Unless, of course, taqqiya permits Muslims to break their own house rules for the purpose of sticking it to the infidels.)

But, that aside, the clerics' action underlines what's going on: the real provocateurs are the perpetually aggrieved and ever more aggressive Islamic bullies - emboldened by the silence of "moderate Muslims" and the pre-emptive capitulation of western media. I was among a small group of columnists in the Oval Office when President Bush, after running through selected highlights from a long list of Islamic discontents, concluded with an exasperated: "If it's not the Crusades, it's the cartoons." That'd make a great bumper sticker: It encapsulsates both Islam's inability to move on millennium-in millennium-out, plus the grievance-mongers' utter lack of proportion.

In a break from the cleaning up that would be done

if I didn't keep taking breaks, something else made years ago, when I realized I needed some carving chisels
Little closer look at the blades, different widths and bevels
They were all forged from overhead garage door spring, an amazingly useful stuff for a blacksmith. For that matter, from larger spring you could use a torch to heat it, then pound it straight and grind it. Heat-treated properly, holds an edge very well. The handles were turned on Dad's lathe.

In the garage is a set of larger ones forged from auto coil spring. Very handy tools at times; the big ones originally made when I started making knife sheaths out of walnut and maple for some blades.

So Blumenthal has a press conference to say "I didn't lie,

you people just didn't hear my words right" AND has another phony troop up there with him.
The POW HALL OF SHAME winner, William Joseph Trumpower, is second from the right.

POW Network.org reported on Trumpower earlier:

WILLIAM JOSEPH TRUMPOWER
aka Elliott Storm
* CLAIMING BRONZE STAR w/VALOR device.
* Claims 2nd Lt, Claims
* Wears 3 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars w/V.
The jacket in EARLIER pictures boasted 8 ribbons.
This NEW pic has more and includes V device on Bronze Star and 2nd Lt bars..
* Claims he worked with Ollie North.

The New Haven Independent reported that Blumenthal called supporter Storm who helped him out today.

Elliott Storm is a Blumenthal supporter. The campaign called him and asked him to show up; he called up his friends in the “Vet Pack” to join him, friends who, like him, travel around the country talking about ex-soldiers who contend with post traumatic stress syndrome.

Why is this not surprising?

Oh, because Blumenthal is a Democrat who apparently wouldn't know the truth if it bit him on the testicles. Assuming he actually has any.

Ok, here's a new set of definitions

Bullet weight: The time you have to wait between rounds of firing fun when you are reloading magazines at the gun range.

Firearms Accuracy: Is truly a myth. Based on my results at the range there is no such thing. It is impossible for a human to make a bullet punch a target where you want it. It HAS to be a myth. It can’t be MY fault I can’t make the holes show up near the center of that big paper circle.
From NJT

Oh, wonderful,

the tornadoes are starting to dance out west again.

Oh, I like

this judge

What do you think?

Friend's Model M has the original grips, the left badly chipped, so decided to try making a set of walnut for it. Not finished with the sanding and no oil or any finish as yet. They fit pretty well. I think after final sanding and finish, they'll look pretty well.

Maybe a set for the .380 with some checkering...

Interesting; an awful lot of 'progressive' types seem to have two things in common:

an odd interest in other men's testicles(how many times can these squirrels smirk and call people 'teabaggers'?), and a real liking for the Joseph Stalin Method of Political Argument:
Can't we just send them to a farm where they can live out their cloudy-minded days in peace and without harming the rest of civilization?
"To the camp with you! You have not the proper revolutionary thoughts!"

Thanks to Tam, we have a wonderful fisking of a Ms. movie review

(and like Larry, my first thought was "That's still around?"). Sample goodiness:
Yes, it’s soooo silly when we act as if females want to be part of the action! As one blogger put it, “If I were Gwyneth Paltrow and I just played the role of a stiletto-heel-wearing submissive secretary cleaning up after some rich white chauvinist asshole, I’d send back my Oscar.”
You would send back your Oscar, assuming you could get one, which you can’t, because you’re a no talent hack who writes for Salon. Meanwhile, the lovely and talented Gwyneth Paltrow is laughing at you, while she sits on a giant pile of money.

Say "Thank you for pointing, Tam."

I was recently brought to my attention just how much fouling

can hide from you. Remember the Sistema project gun? I'd put in a better barrel, and the other day while looking for something else(which stayed in hiding) I found the original. Which looked pretty awful inside; I'd given it a thorough scrubbing but pits don't go away. Well, just to see if there was much fouling hiding in them I dug out the Foul-Out and set it up.

If you're not familiar with it, this is an electronic cleaner: you clean the bore to get rid of powder fouling and any loose general crud, degrease, and plug the breech with one of the supplied plugs. Then you put some o-rings on the cleaning rod to insulate it from the barrel walls and set it in the bore, then add either the copper or lead-fouling solution, hook it up and turn it on. The idea is it pulls the fouling from the bore and plates it on the rod; works pretty well.

Mine's an older unit so it doesn't work as fast, so I left it running while I did some other stuff. After one hour you turn it off and change the fluid, and look at the color: if the stuff has an orange tint, it's pulling rust off the bore and you HAVE TO flush it out and scrub with bore cleaner and a brush to get it all out, then degrease and continue with fresh cleaner. If you leave it running or don't clean the bore and change the stuff it CAN actually cause pitting. After an hour the solution was still the normal blue color, so I just hit the bore with a brush to get out anything loosened; and DAMN, a lot of crud came out! So I dried it, refreshed the cleaner and started it back up.

It took a total of about three hours for the 'clean' light to come on. Yes, there's pitting in there, but it seems not as much as I'd thought; some of that was actually really bad old copper fouling, and the bore looks remarkably better than it did. It's nowhere near new, but very usable.

If you're the tinkering type, Og has a post on his homemade electronic cleaner. And there's a link in the comments to Fr. Frog's place with his findings on such methods and solutions. I'm going to copy this paragraph on power supplies:
The Outers FoulOut operates at a very low voltage (.3 V - three-tenths) at the cleaning electrode. Higher voltages can start to etch the bore, and even at the lower voltage the Outers can do so if there is rust in the bore. While the simple designs given here can be used safely there exists the possibility of bore etching due to their higher voltages. This is a particular concern if you use the Outers solutions. The electrical problem with all the home-brew series current limited (by the short indicating lamp) devices is that they apply voltages that will start taking iron into the solution, according to the FoulOut patent information which has expired. This aspect of the circuitry deceives those without electrical backgrounds. They look at the batteries or the wall adapter voltage used to operate a FoulOut and assume it must be safe to apply that much voltage between the barrel and the rod. Not so. The voltage regulation schemes inside a FoulOut are designed to hold a 0.3V limit regardless of how many volts the power supply has.

And while the President and Napolitano and Holder are busy criticizing a law they haven't bothered to read,

The U.S. Border Patrol uses choppers, ATVs and horses to patrol the 2000-mile border between the Southeastern U.S. and Mexico. Agents say most of the illegals caught crossing are from Mexico or South America. Still, they say thousands of people caught are classified as O.T.M.'s, which stands for "other than Mexican". They report that includes hundreds of people from nations that sponsor terrorism.

Channel 2 Action News anchor Justin Farmer traveled to Arizona to view a detention center near Phoenix. He viewed records that show illegals in custody from from Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan and Yemen.
...
A recent congressional report on the border threat confirmed members of Hezbollah have crossed the Southwest border. It shows photos of military jackets with Arab insignias found on the border. One depicts a picture of a plane crashing into the twin towers in New York City.

Dave Stoddard was a border patrol agent for 20 years. "The American public has been kept in the dark about this issue," he said. "In my experience, for every one apprehended, at least 10 escape apprehension."

The congressional report also revealed the route Middle Easterners take to get the United States. It showed they travel from Europe to South America, then to the tri-border region. That's where they learn to speak Spanish. The report said they then travel to Mexico and blend in with other illegals
.
And we just got to hear the miserable bastard president of Mexico talk about the Arizona law being 'discriminatory'. And Dear Leader blathered again about getting rid of our borders.

Hey, Calderon, we ARE discriminating against people who come here illegally, and we don't give a rats ass what color their skin is; and the last thing we need is a lecture on behavior from a socialist Mexican politician who acts to help people break our laws, so fuck off.

Looks like Marriott Hotels need to be taken off the list

of places to stay.
Hundreds of conventioneers stayed at the Charlotte Marriott City Center, where Grass Roots North Carolina also held its “Gala for Gun Rights” on Friday night, hosting a number of national gun rights defenders. GRNC selected the hotel because it did not post against firearms. Inspections of the main entrance were made both the day prior and the day of the event. So imagine the surprise of GRNC supporters who found that signs barring guns printed by computer had been scotch-taped into place on Friday evening during the event.
And it wasn't accidental or somebody playing games: General Manager Jim Diehl defended doing it. And played games(contact info at the Examiner link).

I have to wonder if there's not some way to sue the ass off the manager and/or hotel for doing this; probably not, but at least we can make it known that they played this game to screw over people they'd signed a contract with.

It seems the name I'll use is fitting: The NYEffingPD:

"They wise off, they fucking push you, I expect them handcuffed, all right?" Mauriello said in a July, 2008 roll call. "Anybody gets stopped and it's a summonsable offense, I want them handcuffed and brought into the precinct."

A sergeant told cops they could void such arrests at the end of their tours. "You'll void it later on in the night so you'll all go home on time."

Yet the 81st precinct is not an isolated case - especially when it comes to downgrading crimes.

The Voice discovered a disturbing episode where the police tried to downplay an attempted rape in Upper Manhattan by classifying it as a misdemeanor.

When the Manhattan District Attorney became involved, police were forced to properly reclassify the case as a violent felony.

Carole Sher, director of the Beth Israel Hospital Rape Crisis/Domestic Violence Intervention Program, told the Voice that downgrading rape complaints is a growing problem across the city.
...
As early as 2005, the presidents of the patrolmen's and sergeants' union announced that commanders were forcing their members to downgrade crimes.
And what about those professional, edited & fact-checked journalists who say they'll keep an eye on things?
But no city paper reported the story.

Department spokesman Paul Browne - known to readers of this column as Mr. Truth - dismissed the reports, convincing reporters that the allegations were part of a feud between Kelly and the PBA, which had recently given him a vote of no confidence.

When Mark Pomerantz, the chairman of the Mayor's Commission to Combat Police Corruption, attempted to obtain records from precincts where crime was reportedly low-balled, Kelly refused to turn them over.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg backed Kelly by saying and doing nothing, forcing Pomerantz to resign. With that, the last hope of department accountability ended.
...
Remember the Mollen Commission hearings on police corruption? Chief Daniel Sullivan of Internal Affairs testified he was literally afraid to give then Commissioner Ben Ward bad news about corruption because Ward became furious. Instead, Sullivan hid the most serious corruption cases in what was known as a "tickler" file.

If the top brass feared Ward, how fearful do you think they are of Kelly?

Would anyone on Kelly's internal task force be brave enough to suggest that downgrading crimes may not be an isolated problem but a systemic one?

...
Among the things that come to mind, reading this crap, is
A: NYEffingPD needs to be cleaned out. Badly.
B: An awful lot of journalists in NYEffin'C have earned my title of "Reporters- sorry excuse for".
C: Bloomberg will spend lots of money and effort to crap all over honest gun owners, but he'll not even back his own commission members in trying to ferret out problems in NYEffingPD.

And it gets even worse:
Schoolcraft has already paid a price for speaking out. As in the old Soviet Union, police forcibly took him to Jamaica Hospital last October, where, he says, he was kept against his will inside the psychiatric ward for six days.

He landed there last Halloween night after the NYPD came to his home in Queens and ordered him back to work after he says he fell ill and left his tour of duty an hour early.

When he refused to return, officers called Emergency Medical Service, which determined he had high blood pressure, then transported him to Jamaica Hospital, where he ended up in the psych ward - hardly the usual place for treating blood pressure problems.

His father Larry says the hospital has refused to release the records of his son's stay, including the name of the admitting doctor
.
Now the hospital is playing "Well, we didn't have the proper release to let him see his hospital records", etc. Probably because they're scared to death of him suing their ass off, which he should.

Here's the next problem: when the NYEffingPD will play Soviet games with people for daring to let the facts out, and the hospital will apparently play along, WHY SHOULD ANYONE TRUST THE NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT? If they'll do that to a police officer, who won't they do it to?

And if Bloomberg actually gives a damn about individual rights and honest cops, why the hell hasn't he done something about this?

If there's any question in your mind why so many have come to see the government in general

and this administration in particular as the enemy, pay attention to this.
The best would be for this to be done voluntarily, but the word "voluntary" is a little complicated, and sometimes people don't do what's best for our society unless Congress holds hearings or unless the public demands it. And the idea would be to have a legal mandate as the last resort, and to make sure it's as neutral as possible if we have to get there, but to have that as, you know, an ultimate weapon designed to encourage people to do better.
The fascist Sunstein's words. Which he's walking back(of course) now that lots of people have actually heard them and expressed just what they think of them. Serious question: considering the crap Sunstein has pushed ever since Obama put him in a position of power, does anybody actually believe he doesn't still like this?

Or that Obama wouldn't love to shove it down our throats?

If Clegg is true to this word,

Britain has a real chance.
Raising the coalition's sights, the Deputy Prime Minister will say: "I have spent my whole political life fighting to open up politics. So let me make one thing very clear: this government is going to be unlike any other.

"This government is going to transform our politics so the state has far less control over you, and you have far more control over the state. This government is going to break up concentrations of power and hand power back to people, because that is how we build a society that is fair. This government is going to persuade you to put your faith in politics once again."
and if he holds to what he says he wants to do,
* scrapping the identity card scheme and second generation biometric passports;

* removing limits on the rights to peaceful protest;

* a bonfire of unnecessary laws;

* a block on pointless new criminal offences;

* internet and email records not to be held without reason;

* closed-circuit television to be properly regulated;

* new controls over the DNA database, such as on the storage of innocent people's DNA;

* axeing the ContactPoint children's database;

* schools will not take children's fingerprints without asking for parental consent;

* reviewing the libel laws to protect freedom of speech.
The socialists will have bloody fits over every word of this; I hope he rams it up their collective ass sideways.

Friend used this at the Tulsa gun show, and it occurred to me

that this was a piece I'd never posted a picture of: my old business card holderForged out of one piece of 1/4" square bar stock, with the tongue added in

Damn, I miss making things like this

Our President either does NOT understand just what he's saying

or sees things in a really weird way. Or in some cases is a flat effing fool.
“Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is.”
Can you friggin' BELIEVE that?

Of course, he's the hero of fools like Alan Colmes, who actually said
Alan Colmes: Because there’s not such a thing as radical Islam.

Megyn Kelly: What?

Alan Colmes: It is not part of the religion. People are not doing this in the name of true Islam
.

Oh hell, I've GOT to pass this along

One of these attacks is probably unique in aviation history. On August 17th, 1915, Flight-Lieutenant G. B. Dacre was forced to land on the sea following engine trouble with his Type 184. A nearby Turkish tugboat approached, presumably intending to capture the plane and its pilot. Determined to avoid so ignominious a fate, Fl-Lt. Dacre taxied his aircraft towards the tug, aimed carefully, and fired his torpedo from the surface, rather than air-dropping it in the normal way. His weapon, launched at point-blank range, could hardly miss, and sank the tug. He was then able to make hurried adjustments to his engine and take off again, returning safely to HMS Ben-my-Chree. I've no doubt that the tug's survivors, floundering in the water, hurled some horrible language after him as he cheekily flew off into the distance!

Vermont: Land of Socialists and Arrogant Statists

And let's not forget Arrogant Bastard Bureaucrats:
It intends to acquire 4.9 acres of border land on a dairy farm owned for three generations by the Rainville family. Last month, the Rainvilles learned that if they refuse to sell the land for $39,500, the government intends to seize it by eminent domain.

The Rainvilles call this an unjustified land-grab by federal bullies.

“They are trying to steamroll us,’’ said Brian Rainville, 36, a high school government and civics teacher whose grandfather bought the farm in 1946 and whose parents and two brothers run it now. “We have a buyer holding a gun to our head saying you have to sell or else.’’

Who are the senators from Vermont? Patrick Leahy(National Socialist Democrat Bastard) and Bernard Sanders(Just Plain Socialist Bastard); the Rep. is Peter Welch(another National Socialist Democrat Bastard). You know, the Evil Party people who're supposed to care about family farmers and such?

And, as Unc says, Really? A bit of land in Vermont is where they wonder about loose borders.

Added:
Simply put, Vermont is a little bitch. When you see the V in Vermont, think “vagina” and it will help you get a fair assessment of the state. New Hampshire, in contrast, displays a much tougher persona. As you might guess about the only New England state to host a NASCAR race, its residents are more likely to own guns and less likely to have college diplomas, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing when your neighbor is as fruity as Vermont.

Among the reasons I call it the People's Republic of Massachusetts:

Enter the country illegally, settle down in Massachusetts, and funnel money to would-be terrorists, without the authorities knowing who or where you are or what you're up to.

But just try to get a license to lawfully own a firearm in the Commonwealth, and they've got your fingerprints, photo, name, hair color, eye color, weight, address, SS number, birth certificate, job title, employer's name and address, etc.

Ask me again why I moved out.

Wonderful! Bill Mauldin gets a stamp

sometime this month.

I remember hearing in 1991 that he'd gone to Saudi and was doing a lot of sketches; God, I wish he'd put the modern Willie & Joe stuff out.

"Able Fox Five to Able Fox. I got a target but ya gotta be patient."

Why Arizona doesn't trust the feds on the border, and the Israelis don't trust

the Palistinian Authority.
First, Arizona:
An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border.
This kind of crap has been going on for a long time; any surprise people get sick of waiting for the Feds to get off their collective ass and enforce the law?

And from Israel:
The note pasted on the driver’s door says: "In case of traffic violations, please contact The Palestinian Authority.”

The Israelis have evidence of ambulances and emergency vehicles set up the same way.
But Israel is supposed to keep giving concessions in the name of 'peace'.

If you have a BSA Sportsman-Five

like this one, and need a magazine, I received a message from a gentleman in Britain who has one:
I have a spare magazine for a BSA Sportsman 5. It is in perfect working order although the bluing is worn as we might expect. I am happy to sell it to anyone who wants it and I will ship it abroad if you cover my costs. Email me at: charleseshepherd at yahoo point co point uk, if you want to discuss it. I am in Birmingham, England: the home of BSA.
So if you're looking for one, might get hold of him.

Yes, the 'point' in the address is from me; you know what it means.

Gee, another Democrat who lied about military service;

he and John Effing Kerry must get along very well together.
Not just any Democratic Senate candidate, either. It’s Richard Blumenthal, current attorney general of Connecticut, whom Chris Dodd made way for by retiring earlier this year. He’s been leading all Republican challengers by upwards of 20 points in the polls and was considered a mortal lock to win the seat in November. Until now.
...
After five deferments he landed a spot in a Marine Reserve unit based in Washington, “which virtually guaranteed that he would not be sent to Vietnam.”
...
Exit quotation from Army veteran Andy Levy, in a tweet to Blumenthal: “You are an utterly despicable coward who claims the bravery and actions of others as your own. Rot in hell.”

Somehow doesn't seem surprising that Friend of Angelo Dodd would help push this bastard forward, does it?

Ground combat training

You'd swear there was blood coming, wouldn't you?

SS(Jr.) looks a lot bigger here than he is, too.

If you're looking at buying a ghillie suit,

might take a look at this place: Ghillie Suit Source. Looks like a pretty good selection of weights/styles.

Comedy Central, you suck.

You're cowards, and you suck.

The President's buttmonkey apologized to the effing PRC for OUR human rights record...

The PRC. Censorship, mass arrests, lots and LOTS of executions. As I recall, after they execute you they still send your family a bill for the cost of the cartridge.
He said U.S. officials did not whitewash the American record and in fact raised on its [their?] own a new immigration law in Arizona that requires police to ask about a person’s immigration status if there is suspicion the person is in the country illegally.
I shall refrain from further comment at this point; my hand aches, and I really don't want to degenerate into that kind of language.

When you've pissed off the senior ranks in a group like the SAS

enough that they're ALL ready to resign, you have well and truly screwed the pooch.
But this time it was personal. The targets were two of their own. That was when the call came – on a secure line from a military bunker just outside London. The Lt-Col could not believe what he was hearing. ‘Permission not granted. There are more important things than the lives of the soldiers.’

The voice was that of a senior general at Permanent Joint Headquarters at Northwood, the UK nerve centre of the war.

That was when the Lt-Col realised that his biggest challenge would be the top brass at home. The men waiting on the runway were flabbergasted when they heard. ‘People were pretty fired up,’ one source close to the regiment said. ‘And then there was the let down. The CO was furious.’

It was then the commanding officer made the decision that could have seen him and his brother officers hauled over the coals. The alternative, they agreed, was to resign en masse in disgust.

He picked up the phone and made the fateful call. ‘We’re doing it anyway,’ he said. Minutes later the C-130 took off. There was no going back. BASRA was originally proclaimed a beacon for post-war Iraq, a model of how to hand over control to the local population
.

The whole situation was effed-up for political reasons, and it led to this(among other things). You get the impression that Brown and his Labour Government would happily have hung the whole British Army in Iraq out to dry rather than actually worry about winning.

I wonder if the clowns still in charge of so much of the Brit government have any idea how fortunate they are that there are still troops like these willing to serve?

"We don't like having SWAT teams compared to us"

A couple of years ago after I'd given a speech on this issue, a retired military officer and former instructor at West Point specifically asked me to stop using the term "militarization," because he thought comparing SWAT teams to the military reflected poorly on the military.
Hadn't really thought of it in this light before: I am a US Army officer, currently serving in Afghanistan. My first thought on reading this story is this: Most American police SWAT teams probably have fewer restrictions on conducting forced entry raids than do US forces in Afghanistan. .

That is NOT a happy thought. Go read the rest.

Who'd play them?

Talking to somebody the other evening, noticed one of Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan novels on the table and we got to talking about how they'd make some damn good movies(the concern of Hollyidiots screwing it up is a given), but the big question was "Who would play Miles?" And we had no idea.

Which brought to mind Hammer's Slammers: who'd play Joachim Steuben? Lots of other characters, but that one might be pretty hard to pull off. First guy that came to mind was Sean Hayes, who played Jack in Will & Grace(yes, I used to watch it sometimes; until it became too PC and sucky to tolerate). Physically he's pretty close, maybe a bit taller, and seems to be a good actor; if he could get into the character, I think he'd make a damn good Joachim.

And now, having decided to put this down before my somewhat fogged mind forgets it, good night.

At this point, I'm done in

Over the last week: daughter closed on a house so lots of moving stuff, lots of rain, tornadoes, doctor visit that has me on some meds and now the damned hail. Add it all together and I'm tired out.

And I can't have a drink, because the meds do not play well with alcohol.

Just had a hell of a hailstorm around here

This looks like the biggest that hit my neighborhood; most of it was much smaller. Worst was further east.

I'm officially tired of spring showers.

Added:
So much ice down in the low areas there's fog

Two really bad things here: first, the DA needs to be fired

Maybe horsewhipped.
Davidson County's district attorney general now admits that he's had big concerns about how Metro police investigate murders.

His big concern was policies put in place by former Chief Ronal Serpas.

This development follows a months-long NewsChannel 5 investigation into The Truth About Crime.

Torry Johnson and others say those decisions have weakened efforts to investigate -- and prosecute -- the city's most violent crimes
.
And guess what lucky city gets the former chief?
The DA made the comments before Serpas resigned to take the top cop job in New Orleans.
He ought to fit right in down there, shouldn't he?

Let's just say it's been a busy few days

Daughter has bought a house(or started buying one, however you want to put it) so there's been stuff connected with that. Taking care of stuff around here, etc., it all adds up.

More to do today, so this may be all you see out of me:
"Hey, Jews, don't pay attention to that stuff in the news, we still like you. And tell your people to keep giving us money and voting for us!"

Ammo supplies have eased up considerably from a few months back; still not exactly plentiful in some stuff(store may have a batch in, then no more for a while but more does come in) and prices are up, but better than was. PJM had this post on the matter last night(that's when I read it, anyway). Basically same thing a lot of us have said before: increased hoarding due to political pressures, increased buying of some cartridges by LE(I do think he's wrong on the military, in that needed the amounts they do does affect civilian supply even if it's primarily government arsenals producing theirs), and lots of upward pressure on materials like copper and lead.

Maybe I need to get more primers and stuff after all.

We take the kids to the range for some fun time, and liberals get damn-near hysterical; palistinians teach their kids crap like this and- at most, if they mention it at all- you hear excuses:
Teddy bear Nassur: Dear children, when we grow up, we will become martyrs, God willing.

Yes, Saraa, the pioneers of tomorrow will liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The children, the pioneers of tomorrow, and not only in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, but all over the world, my dear Saraa and dear children
.

"It's ALL BUSH'S FAULT!!!" Hehehehehe...

In case you hadn't heard, Obama has nominated for SCOTUS someone who's 'not sympathetic' to 2nd Amendment concerns. Surprised, aren't you?

Craig Lancaster wanted to prove that Chicago Police officers are treated the same as others when they break the law, Cook County prosecutors said.

So in a drunken argument with a friend last summer, prosecutors said, the 41-year-old veteran officer shot a gun in the air outside an Ashburn bowling alley where he also worked security -- and waited.

Within minutes, Lancaster appeared to have won the debate when officers arrived on the scene and arrested him. He was charged with two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm.

But on Friday, some might argue, he caught a break -- but seemingly lost the argument
.

Unc's right; this has some interesting potential for gunsights. I'm thinking a large-aperture rear sight with this in a insert.

Snerk... Idaho vs. the 'East Coast point of view'.

And that's it. Things to move, hopefully not in the rain.
