I think I figured out a problem on a rifle,

but I'm not sure why the problem, and why this fixes it.  Details sometime when I think I've got this actually figured out.

Why are lots of Iranians burning mosques?

For damn good reasons.  And yeah, a lot of westerners need to pay attention to why.

There was a tree in the back yard

One of those that had become a horribly tangled mess that, no matter what you did, always put branches out toward the nearest power lines and data lines.  Literally, you pruned it back from them, and that's where the first shoots started growing.  And it had reached the point it had to be taken down.

Last week son came over on his Saturday with his pole saw, and with that and my chain saw- and having had a line run from it to a tree on the other side of the yard for about three weeks, tightening it every other day- we got it down without damaging the shed, one of us falling out or having something fall on us.  It's a damp morning, and as my shoes dry I got all the big pieces hauled around for the big trash pickup(or anyone who wants the wood).  It's only rained very lightly yesterday and last night, so the ground is still firm and it was easy to use the dolly to get them around.

Which had to be today, as we're told we'll have some real rain later today and off & on the next few days.  We'll see, but in any case it's only small stuff left I can cut up later.

When I first moved here, there were limbs and small trees all over, nothing having been cut for at least a couple of years, and every month I had a tall pile at the curb for pickup.  At least I'm long past that level.

The Firearm Blog has a list of four cartridges

in the 'Do you think they'll make a comeback?' category, I can make comments about two:

The .257 Roberts is still the favorite deer cartridge of a friend of my fathers, who's used one for longer than I've been alive, I believe.  He does have trouble finding ammo outside of the fall 'This is the one time a year we  make this' situation.  It's accurate, light recoil, and he still loves it.  I think for the most part it's been a slot taken over by the .243, but it still works.

The other is the .22 Hornet.  Very light recoil, works well for varmints or targets out to 200 yards, maybe a little longer depending on you and your rifle.  If you find an old one, be sure to check for any markings of it having been rechambered to .22 K-Hornet: it'll have a shorter neck, sharper shoulder, and the body taper reduced.  It's an easy change to make, just fire standard Hornet ammo and it'll fireform to the new shape.  From one I messed with one time I'd say handloading isn't just how to make new ammo, it can be the best way to form it from the beginning.  Some factory ammo is a bit stiff in the neck/shoulder area, and if you anneal it before loading you'll have a lot less problem with some cases possibly cracking under the stress.

The other thing is many of the older rifles have a slower rifling pitch, which works great on bullets up to 40 grains, anything heavier, that longer bullet won't stabilize.  The one I fired, the owner tried it with 50-grain bullets and they hit the target sideways, but 40 and below it was very accurate with.

How messed up are things across the Atlantic?

A British Jew decides he wants German citizenship in case he has to flee Britain...

And syrupean* countries are worried about some of all those people they just let in might turn out to be sleeper cells.  Kind of like lots of people warned about, and said syrupeans called them racist for suggesting it....

That second fitting nicely with this piece the other day on that subject, along with the general "You've let these asshats riot and so forth with little or no action taken, NOW you're worried about the result?"

Oh, and a bunch of Democrats here are having the same worries, after making sure to let those people in in the first place.

Ran across those at Kim's place.    Link added
And carrying is a very good idea right now

*Larry Correia started using that term for Europeans asshats recently.

I need either gel blocks or a bunch of water jugs

so I can try this stuff out.  It's a new- to me at least- .300 Blackout subsonic ammo from Federal.  1000fps is claimed, and it's an expanding 190-grain bullet.

I had a chance to fire three rounds today; definitely subsonic, and at 30 yards three holes touching.  No, I didn't have the chronograph to check velocity, and that's all I had the chance to try today.  And, so far, have not been able to find any tests on the stuff to see how much it expands and down to what velocity.  Bloody YouTube won't load right now, I'll do some more searching later.

Things to find out...

Couple of things, both guaranteed to piss off the left

(yes, I could just say 'Democrats')
First,
Whole post here.

Second, yeah, it's getting a workout
which has also got to be pissing off the left("How dare those Jews defend themselves this way!", etc.)

These and other things at the Village guy's place, including the latest terrorist attack in Texas.

Seems a bunch of rioters attacked the US Consulate in Karachi.  Except, this not being a government headed by Biden or Obama, and a Dept. of War not headed by someone lost when he went to a  hospital without telling people or afraid to tell the Marines to defend the place, the attackers got their asses kicked.  Which led to the usual suspects here accusing the US of 'killing civilians', etc.  Including Governor Hair Gel.

About that terrorist attack in Texas, it was attacking people leaving a bar, so most places you couldn't carry there, but anywhere else you legally can?  Very good reason right now to have it on you.

I do not claim strategic genius

I do know that actually doing something in Iran was going to take a lot of stuff, people, and doing, and that takes time.

It did, and it's getting done.  To the great whining and screaming of Democrats and US-haters in general.

The Squat?  Those bastards hate the US and have supported ever islamist terrorist that walked, and they can't stand that anyone, especially Trump, has actually done something about them.  And I think we're talking long-term, because without the money, and support, and hiding places and so forth, it'll be a big difference.

Wonder if the people of the land will go back to the Persian flag?

Directly connected: I don't think it's possible to hate our Professional Journalists enough.

I also think a bunch of Republican politicians needs kicks in the ass for being the obstructive clowns they are, and preferably removal from office.  You can't support and help push through the SAVE* Act?  You're gone, jackass.

*corrected, thank you Leigh
