I have seen exactly one gun barrel that split like a banana lengthwise, just forward of the receiver (thickest section of barrel). The story on that one was a home reloaded round that had too much of a very fast powder in it, detonated completely before the round moved half way down barrel, pressure had to go somewhere.
The vid is too fast for detail but I sure hope the bolt was fully in battery or the guy might be dead.
300 BO in a 223 looks like that.

ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, I lean toward some WAY overcharged round, from what can be seen.
One guy at Wirecutter's place, where I found this, thinks can see a boresighter inthe barrel, I can't tell.
