The current wonder of the Arab Spring: Updated on Nanny

According to the popular Egyptian website, El Bashayer, Muhammad Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate, just declared that he will "achieve the Islamic conquest (fath) of Egypt for the second time, and make all Christians convert to Islam, or else pay the jizya," the additional Islamic tax, or financial tribute, required of non-Muslims, or financial tribute.
So this one is at least honest: he says openly it was a conquest of Egypt, and they're doing it again. I wonder when they'll reinstate slavery for non-believers?

Among our home-grown dirtbags, we have the latest from Nanny Bloomberg: he controls how big a drink you can buy if it contains sugar:
Think about it: This is a man who thinks he can tell you what size container you may place sugar water into. That's nuts. That's completely, flat-out, Howard Hughes-meets-Kim Jong Il bugnuts crazy. Are you all going to just sit there and go "Derrr... hokay, boss!" while the rest of us snicker behind our hands at you and tell jokes about pre-ban soft drink cups, or are you going to toss this jackhole in the East River?
Well, it being New York Effing City, they'll sit there a bitch about the guy who had his minions change the law so he could rule again, and tells them what to eat and how to cook it while he feasts on the stuff he says they shouldn't have.
Update: ran across this quote:
“We’re not taking away anybody’s right to do things, we’re simply forcing you to understand that you have to make the conscious decision to go from one cup to another cup.”
Translation: "I'm forcing you to drink out of the cup I choose, but I'm sick of catching hell for being a nanny so I'm not going to admit it. Now shut up and do what you're told."

On Gunwalker, another borrow from Sipsey Street:
Meet The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights Executive Committee. This gaggle of collectivists has been mobilized in support of Holder and as described below, has sent a letter to Boehner to reinforce the Travyon Martin argument for doing nothing.
Here is the headline and link: Organizations urge Boehner not to vote contempt against AG.
Here is the article:
With the threat of a contempt charge hanging over Attorney General Eric Holder, 14 civil rights, labor, and liberal activist groups Tuesday urged Speaker of the House John Boehner not to proceed to a contempt vote.
The organizations which are closely allied with the Obama administration charged that to hold the attorney general in contempt for failing to turn over demanded documents on the "fast and furious" investigation "seems to be a rush to judgment intended to create a stain on the office of the attorney general."
The two-page letter, written by the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights repeats the claims made by the Justice Department in refusing to provide sensitive internal law enforcement documents. The organizations said Holder has already turned over the disputed documents to the inspector general for his ongoing investigation into the flawed gun-smuggling operation. "They reportedly include law enforcement information, grand jury transcripts, and other information that would compromise ongoing investigations and prosecutions," the letter said.
House Republicans have repeatedly threatened to vote a contempt citation against Holder for failing to adequately respond to a subpoena issued last October.
The Justice Department has acknowledged the operation was flawed and the ATF should not have allowed illegally purchased weapons to "walk" across the Mexican border to drug cartels.
No date has been set for the committee to vote on a contempt charge, which would need to precede a vote by the full House.
House Republican leaders had no immediate comment on the letter sent to Boehner.
Although they seem to have released this letter to CNN, they have not yet posted it on their website. Obviously, however, the White House is pulling out all the stops for the "no justice, no peace" mantra. Or, put otherwise, "leave our black brother Eric alone or there will be riots."
Where are the countervailing voices?
Well, if they're like Boehner they're either such suckass politicians they don't want to actually DO anything, or they're possibly being blackmailed. Either one would explain a lot.
Also, as to the media trying everything they can to avoid talking about Gunwalker, it works. And they'll keep trying to shove it completely down the memory hole.

Some action to see to it that if Obama plays along with the UN 'Let's ban guns from the peasants' treaty, there'll be problems:
WASHINGTON (DC) – Congressman Ben Quayle today proposed the Second Amendment Sovereignty Act of 2012 in order to protect American gun owners from potential regulation from the United Nation’s Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). The Arms Trade Treaty is to be finalized by the UN this year, and could potentially contain a number of provisions which directly conflict with the constitutional rights of American citizens. This bill blocks funding to negotiate, or implement this treaty.

“The second amendment is an individual constitutional right and we must never allow that right to be trampled on by an international treaty” Quayle said. “This UN treaty is a direct threat to American sovereignty and the constitutional rights of all Americans.
and
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Montana's Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today successfully added an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2013 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations bill to block funding to advocate for or agree to any provision of a United Nations (UN) small arms treaty that would restrict the Second Amendment rights of American citizens or further regulate U.S. firearms users or manufacturers. The amendment was adopted in committee by a vote of 30-20.

“The Bill of Rights are simply not subject to the authority of the United Nations or any other international body,” said Rehberg, a member of the Second Amendment Task Force with an A+ Rating from the National Rifle Association. “President Obama and his Senate allies have waged a proxy war on gun rights, appointing anti-gun Supreme Court justices and deferring to international laws. But the Second Amendment is crystal clear, and I’m going to do everything I can to protect law abiding gun owners from President Obama’s dangerous agenda.”

And last, for now, "4th Amendment? You expect us to worry about that?"
