Saturday has turned chilly, so

here's some study material if you want to stay inside

Shades of Swimmer Kennedy:

"He's a shit, but he votes the way we want, so leave him alone!"
Who didn't see this crap coming?

The proper phrase here is "It's a shame more politicians and lawyers are not hanged."
The cities of Indio and Coachella partnered up with a private law firm, Silver & Wright, to prosecute citizens in criminal court for violations of city ordinances that call for nothing more than small fines—things like having a mess in your yard or selling food without a business license.

Those cited for these violations fix the problems and pay the fines, a typical code enforcement story. The kicker comes a few weeks or months later when citizens get a bill in the mail for thousands of dollars from the law firm that prosecuted them. They are forcing citizens to pay for the private lawyers used to take them to court in the first place. So a fine for a couple of hundred dollars suddenly becomes a bill for $3,000 or $20,000 or even more.

18 of the idiot predictions made by environmentalists*.  Don't worry if you don't read this, you'll hear some variation on every one of them in the news in the future.

*Many of whom are more accurately labeled 'human-hating morons'

One thing I do NOT like about this time of year

is people showing up one or two days before the season opens: "Where do I need to set this so it'll be dead-on at (fill in the distance)?"

A: You should've done this a long time before now.  Along with some practice.
B: For most of the people doing this, "Point of impact needs to be .3" below point of aim" is meaningless, because without a bench rest they can't hold tight enough for that to be useful.
C: There are dozens of rifle/cartridge/scope height combinations, so don't get mad because it takes a few minutes(that I could've been using to check someone else in) to run your combo through a ballistic calculator and give you an estimate for your adjustment.  Only a couple of people like that, but it ticks me off.

On the other hand you have the people who come in ready: all they need to do is check zero.  If they need ammo, they know what brand and bullet weight they need, and they're shooting for maybe five-ten shots: two or three to make sure of zero, the others 'just because'.

It's a mix.

It's Friday;

you know what that means

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus- which just happens to be all Democrats-

refuses to allow a Republican to join.  Basically "You're brown, but you're the wrong kind of brown."

Then: "There must be body cameras on every cop!"
Now: "You're using them wrong, it's a threat!"

"But those black people aren't playing the game the way we want them to!  And they're succeeding!  That makes us look bad!"  Etc.
“I grew up in the Congo and have numerous friends in the U.S. from the Congo and other African countries who are here for an education or a better life. Every one of them is grateful for the opportunity to secure an excellent education. … Most come here from different cultures with minimal money and limited English language skills. Interestingly, I’ve never heard one complain about discrimination, obstacles or being a victim. Rather, they are grateful. Juxtapose this with Cornell’s Black Students United (BSU) whose members feel they should be treated better than every other color or race if they have ancestors who’ve been here for more than two generations.

“The counterintuitive posturing of American blacks denying other blacks from Africa or the Caribbean is appalling. First-generation African or Caribbean students have more obstacles to overcome to get into any university, much less a prestigious one like Cornell. Furthermore, the liberal American blacks who worship at the altar of ‘diversity’ and ‘victimhood’ should welcome real Africans or Caribbeans versus seeking preferences for those American blacks who truly have the superior advantage of having grown up in the U.S.

When this crap started coming out, and the pictures started making it around, I remember the standard line from the left was "That's just ol' Joe being Joe."  Now they just don't want to talk about it.  At all.
...From swimming in the nude and walking around the residence sans clothing, but only when Mrs. Biden wasn’t around, to inappropriate touching to a reported incident where another agent was suspended after shoving Biden for grabbing his girl friend’s breast, the picture is not a pretty one.

He [the agent] said that the men on duty would frequently stand in front of female agents and Navy women that were present “like a damn guardian.” On some occasions, they would make up reasons to get the women away from where he [Biden] was.

"But- but eggs and omelets!  Communism could be GREAT!"

Tell me again of the wonders of government-controlled health care

Ah yes, one of those accomplishments of Hillary that we're supposed to be in awe of.
European Islamist scion Tariq Ramadan was banned from the U.S. by the Bush administration in February 2004 for his financial support of a charity that funded terrorist groups. In January 2010, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton overturned that ban. Clinton personally approved a visa for the controversial grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Now, Tariq Ramadan is facing multiple accusations of rape and sexual assault of minors.

So what else is out there, moving around in the depths, that we don't know about?

But they love to whine about "Why don't people trust us?"

In ten years of studying violent encounters and learning everything I could about every shooting I could, I never once found a newspaper article that got all the facts right. Usually they weren’t even close. In that same time period I offered free training in Use of Force to reporters or detractors, and never once had any of them take me up on it.
Part of a piece Correia did on use of force; well worth reading.

"Stop calling yourself a feminist unless you say what we tell you to!"
One more reason I have that 'Nutcase-level feminism' category.

Victims of a mass shooting perpetrated by organized government are just as dead as victims of a mass shooting perpetrated by a lone nut. Adopt the broadest definition of “mass shooting” that you want (e.g., three victims wounded, one killed). Add up all the mass shooting deaths from lunatics, organized crime, jihadist cells and ordinary criminals. The global, historical total of mass shooting deaths will be gruesome, and it will also be small compared to the total of mass shooting deaths perpetrated by criminal governments — including Fascists, Communists and non-ideological tyrants.

I shall now continue with getting some stuff cleared.  See  you later

Yes, I'm still vertical and ambulatory

More or less.

More tomorrow.  Probably.
