Ignorance

Not 'stupidity'.  'Ignorance' is 'a lack of knowledge, understanding, or education', and easily fixable; 'stupid' is a whole 'nother thing.

This brought up by, a few days ago, a guy asking how to load a magazine(actually something like "How do you put the bullets in?").
"Take a cartridge, and-"
"What's that?"
Hold up a round.  "Cartridge?"  Blank look.  "The bullets?"
"OH!"

Genius I'm not, all-knowing I'm not; the level of "I have no idea what any of this stuff is, how do you make it go bang?" is amazing.  That's the bad part.

The good part: They're learning.  They've decided to find out, and try this.  And the more people who do, and find out how much fun it is, the better off we are, and the better the 2nd will be defended.

Unless they turn out to be idiots and their idiocy kills someone - a photogenic kid especially. Then they aren't allies, they're weapons for the other side.

My boss has a friend who started 'playing' with guns. Maybe 'putzing' is a better word, because he is an idiot.

He bought a 44 mag revolver and brought it over to show it off. I mentioned that he really shouldn't put any of his body parts that he cherishes ahead of the cylinder. He managed to just get bit a little bit.

He asked if it was ok if he brought his daughters over and have them shoot it too. His petite, grade school age daughters.
