There wouldn't be much danger even if the spell was originally effective - they are very unlikely to pronounce it properly. Even with the best-known ancient languages, archaeologists theories of pronunciation amount to little more than finding a related modern language and guessing about thousands of years of changes. With an obscure language like this one, they don't even have that much.

Even modern languages. Once at North Texas Irish Festival, had five different people who'd been to Ireland correct my pronunciation of 'sgian'. All slightly differently.
