One reason why we should trust or believe any of these bastards

Just one.
Director of National Intelligence Jim Clapper wasn’t lying when he wrongly told Congress in 2013 that the government does not “wittingly” collect information about millions of Americans, according to his top lawyer.

He just forgot.

“This was not an untruth or a falsehood. This was just a mistake on his part,” Robert Litt, the general counsel for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, said during a panel discussion hosted by the Advisory Committee on Transparency on Friday.
Isn't it a violation of ethics for a lawyer to lie like this?

Oh yeah, he works for the government; 'lawyer' and 'ethics' don't go together there.

I wonder if they actually expect anyone to believe this, or it's just their CYA story(no matter how stupid)?

It is irrelevant if one believes or not. All that matters is whether they get away with it. As long as the complaints remain relegated to incohesive groups of individuals who decry the lack of ethics they do get away with it.

Required action is physical force because even the courts seem complicit. Until then, our complaints are easily rendered as ineffective.
