There was an argument on bookface about "What to do if people make you stop

in a demonstration/riot situation", opinions ranging from 'show restraint and avoid hurting people' to 'drive, if they're too stupid to get out of the way that's their problem'.  Crap like this makes you lean toward the 'DRIVE' option:
Police said Begic was in his vehicle in the 4200 block of Itaska about 1:15 a.m. when several juveniles approached on foot and began damaging it. Begic got out and the juveniles began yelling at him and striking him with hammers. Two male juveniles, 16 and 15, were taken into custody.
No other details, but what do you want to bet one or more was standing in front of the car, and he didn't want to run over them?

And if he had run over one of them, Sharpton and Holder and ever other race-baiting bastard out there would be howling for his blood.

Normally, A drive has a legal obligation to avoid a collision, especially with a pedestrian. That obligation does not supercede the driver's right to self preservation. In such a case, using his vehicle to escape the attack is the preferred option. If the pedestrians attempt to restrain thedriver by jumping in front of his vehicle, they are merely demonstrating that they have never played chess. Throwing your pawn in front of the other king and yelling, "CheckMate", doesn't give you the win, if the king can simply take your unprotected pawn in the next move.
