That's one way to reduce the number of cancers:

call them something else.

And if they're not cancer, why, then you can steer people away from those expensive cancer treatments and such, and isn't that wonderful?

There are some "cancers" which will likely never cause their host any problems

tests at Autopsy show that most males over about age 50 have what would show up in screening as prostate "cancer", a far far lower percentage would ever develop problems with it.

Simillarly, there are conditions like calcification of milk ducts, which are assumed to be pre "cancerous", but no one actually knows, because for the past 40 or 50 years, any woman found with such changes got her tits chopped off.

Why scare the hell out of people and their families with the bogey man of a disease that in its aggressive forms can result in a painul and degrading death, and subject them to therapies almost as bad as the worst forms of the disease, for something that is unlikely to even trouble them?
