Well, that's a relief

Dad had an eye problem a while back, which led to a doctor visit, which led to another visit. Problem was a growth next to the eye that was determined to be basal cell carcinoma; which, if you're going to develop a cancer, seems to be the best of the lot as treatments have a very high cure rate.

Surgery was done this morning, and a pathologist checked and determined they got the whole thing. So, aside from the developing postop pain, he's feeling a lot better.

Congratulations to your Dad! How lucky that it was not on the other end of his bod! I sometimes wonder if there is an epidemic of this disease, or if we are so technically advanced that we can now diagnose what is really wrong, instead of probing, and probing, and guessing, and watching people get worse and die. Or misdiagnose, with the same result.
I know this much - the person who comes up with a cure, and tries to talk about it will have a short life. Too much money being made in post-cancer maintenance. Just think of all the people who would be out of work.
My best, very best wishes to your Dad.

I don't think epidemic; few years back read a study that noted that a big factor in cancer is age, and more people are living long enough to develop it. Add to that that we do have better diagnosis to find the actual problem. Not always, but much more than used to be the case.
