"Gun control by the backdoor route?" is Insty's question,

and it's a good one.
The controversial OSHA nominee and left-leaning public health advocate also seems to have strong views on firearms issues. That’s by no means irrelevant to the agenda of an agency like OSHA, because once you start viewing private gun ownership as a public health menace, it begins to seem logical to use the powers of government to urge or even require employers to forbid workers from possessing guns on company premises, up to and including parking lots, ostensibly for the protection of co-workers. In addition, OSHA has authority to regulate the working conditions of various job categories associated with firearms use (security guards, hunting guides, etc.) and could in that capacity do much to bring grief to Second Amendment values.

The article linked on his 'strong views' is about what we've come to expect: dancing in the blood of crime victims to try to trash the 2nd Amendment.

Time to yell at the senators, people. Loudly.

Plus, treating the Second Amendment like the first could gut it as well, what with time, place, and manner restrictions.

I can't remember the name of the law professor, very left-leaning, who a few years back was warning these clowns that if they used these methods to try to gut the 2nd, they were setting a horrible precedent that threatened EVERY right.

They just don't seem to care.

Firehand, that is because the whole deal is not about freedom of expression but only the freedom to express disagreement with the liberty-loving people. Dissent is patriotic until you dissent with the collectivists, at which time you are a dangerous "inauthentic" astroturf nut.
As soon as the hook is sufficiently set, the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments will go as being only collective rights, and the Third and Eighth Amendments will go to, as necessary to maintain order.
