you can fit 18 paperbacks into one of the large flat-rate boxes without it bulging too much. Got those sent off last week, mix of Drake, Ringo, a Heinlein(my copy of Starship Troopers) and some others. They should be arriving sometime this week.
Got a call from him Sunday: amazingly enough, this time I wasn't on the phone at work or away from the phone at the house. Highs are down to the low 100's but the humidity is up(yuck), their area is still pretty quiet. I get the feeling between their patrols and the Iraqi National Police and Army, the bad guys have had the living crap kicked out of them, which is all to the good.
